    Guys,
It is with a heavy heart that that I have to report a forum member - cornerback_blitz was killed in action february 17th in Al Anabar, Iraq.
The report concluded that my buddy was killed by a single sniper shot to the neck.
I know he had friends from here although he didn't post much and I just wanted to let those of you who weren't on his MSN know.
He was a great guy who would have broken down a wall with his head to help a friend in trouble, and will be sorely missed by those in his unit.

    Rest in Peace brother

    F*ck are you serious?

I can still see his avatar and everything, I know exactly who that is.

That's horrible, I hope he's in a totally better place laughing at Bush and the entire world.

    Thank you for your condolences.
This will be my last post
This poem was read at his funeral..

    We all came together,
    Both young and old.
    To fight for our freedom,
    To stand and be bold.

In the midst of all evil,
    We stand our ground,
    And we protect our country
    From all terror around.

    Peace and not war,
    Is what some people say.
    But I'll give my life,
So you can live life your way.

    I give you the right
    To talk of your peace.
    To stand in your groups,
    and protest in our streets.
    But still I fight on,
    I don't bitch, I don't whine.
I'm just one of the people
    Who is doing your time.

    I'm harder than nails,
    Stronger than any machine.
    I'm the immortal soldier,
    I'm a MARINE!

    So stand in my shoes,
    And leave from your home.
Fight for the people who hate you,
    With the protests they've shown.

    Fight for the sick,
    Fight for the poor.
    Fight for the cripple,
    Who lives next door.

    But when your time comes,
    Do what I've done.
For if you stand up for your freedom,
You'll kick your enemies ass and then some

Stay safe everyone... and don't forget those who stepped up to the plate and earned their 'home run'

I hope his family is well and I commend him for going to Iraq and doing what he thought was right. He will be missed.
And Tren I am with you, I am from Canada so cant say I am suffering any of the losses you guys have in the staes. But they really need to bring the troops home, young men dying everyday for what? It breaks my heart to be honest.

I had the honor of being called a friend of C_B,
He had actually left the British military around October to pursue bodyguarding. He re-enlisted when he found out that a slot had to be filled in his old unit and they were about to send his friend who had just had a baby, he filled the slot for his friend.

It transpired that he was in an Observation post and heard that US patrol was in trouble 5 blocks down the street. Against orders he and a team member made their way to try and dicipate some of the fire the patrol was recieving by splitting the focal point, the insurgents eventually fled and C_B's team radio'd for an evacit was during the radio transmission C_B was shot in the neck, the medic fought with the wound and tried to calm C_B. C_B later died aboard the helicopter-evac.

I wasn't in C_B's unit like chemically_assisted but a an emergency contact was able to read the final moments of my friends life.

His favourite poem was also read at his funeral

My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.

The sparkling lights in the tree, I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep

In perfect contentment, or so it would seem.
So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.
The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near,
But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear.

Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know,
Then the sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.
My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
And I crept to the door just to see who was near.

Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.
A soldier, a sailor, I puzzled, some twenty years old
Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold.

Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.
"What are you doing?" I asked without fear
"Come in this moment, it's freezing out here!

Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!"
For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts,

To the window that danced with a warm fire's light
Then he sighed and he said "Its really all right,
I'm out here by choice, I'm here every night.

"It's my duty to stand at the front of the line,
That separates you from the darkest of times.
No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me.

My Gramps died at 'Pearl on a day in December,"
Then he sighed, "That's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers."
My dad stood his watch in the jungles of 'Nam
And now it is my turn and so, here I am.

I've not seen my own son in more than a while,
But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile.
Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,
The red white and blue ... an American flag.

"I can live through the cold and the being alone,
Away from my family, my house and my home,
I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat,

I can carry the weight of killing another
Or lay down my life with my sister and brother
who stand at the front against any and all,
to ensure for all time that this flag will not fall."

"So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright
Your family is waiting and I'll be all right."

"But isn't there something I can do, at the least,
"Give you money," I asked, "or prepare you a feast?
It seems all too little for all that you've done,
For being away from your wife and your son."

Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
"Just tell us you love us, and never forget
To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone.
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.

For when we come home, either standing or dead,
To know you remember we fought and we bled
Is payment enough, and with that we will trust.
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us.

This is from a thread CB started....and I have to say the last sentence, could not be anymore wrong.

    Who are you??

    "k heres me...

    1.
Was born 15th September 1981 - 1 month premature due to a car accidnet that my family was involved in. Had a good child hood, lived in the country and had a close bunch of friends. HaD A GREAT DAD WHEN HE WAS AROUND, HE WAS ALWAYS AWAY ON TOUR, HE WAS THE QUIET STRONG TYPE AND NEVER RAISED HIS VOICE ONCE, MY MUM WAS A STRONG WOMAN WHO RAN THE HOUSEHOLD WHILE MY DAD WAS AWAY AND EVEN WHILE HE WAS HOME. eARLIEST MEMORY IS FOLLOWING MY DAD ON ONE OF HIS RUNS I MADE IT 2 MILES AND GOT LOST, STUCK ON MY OWN FOR 6 HOURS AS NO1 KNEW WHERE I HAD GONE...lol shit just realised had caps on i was mischeious as a kid but nothing hardcore, shot by the farmer a few time with his salt rifle and got stuck in a sewage pipe.. but thats about it really
    2.
As a teenager used to accompany my dad on his runs, finishing up with a swim across a bog, well technically a lake but it was a shitty lake... joined the marine cadets at 14 and swiftly realised that i got a huge buzz just being cammed up and attacking other cadets in the forest...
Finished my 'A' levels (AAB) and joined the marine commando's age 18, and thats where my life really began.. As my uncle was a marine too i was actually bullied really bad by the NCO's as my uncle was a bit of a douche... so apart from beatings and extra things passed on i was regularly made fun of on parade etc.... this brought out my mean streak, and after breaking a NCO's leg i was sent to colchester for 3 months for 'correctional training'... here i really got to grips with soldiering and set out to prove everyone in my old troop worng so i applied to be a swimm er canoesit at 20... was put straight on the course ( i actually missed the pre selection due to my fitness records...) And after being tortured and drowning myself 7 times i eventually passed the third youngest person to do so.

    3.
part of an elite service, British forces.. you meet alot of characters in my profession ranging for extroverts yto deeply religious and quiet... everyone has a place here and you will meet some of the nicest guys ever to walk the earth... due to the kindness i have been shown by so many, i am alot more tolerant towards people and try to help ouit as much as poss too.

    4.
Ignorant people piss me off... and even moreso bullies... if anyone is outnumbered and i can help out i will... and recieved my fair share of beatings bcos of this.. and probably will continue to do so.
Any1 who abuses women i would happily gut or people who pray on thwweak..
But most of all cowardly people... having been in iraq twice now and seeing some of the things people do to one another sends me in to a rage.. when someone can pull someone else out a car, cut their throat and then when they are shot in the leg beg for their lives and say they have nothing to do with it. Take responsibility for your actions, if ur caught accept the consequences...

    5.
My dad started me off, trained in the garage for a while and was lucky that my dad knew what he was doing and instructed me right..

    6.
My dream is to just have a quiet peice of the world with me where i live, i'd love for my family to grow up, not scared, worried about what OTHER people may do, my goal is to make a positive difference in someones life, i feel i have done more destruction than help..."

Your help is what keeps us safe. Thanks alot bro....and R.I.P
