and you thought you had it bad.....

went to the back specialist today to review my MRI on my low back (l4 / l5 region). turns out i got 2 bad discs. one's bulging, the other's herniated with some spondylothesis on top of that. getting a cortisone shot either tomorrow or the next day + some physical therapy. possible surgery down the road, if all doesn't go well with this cortisone.

I have herniated a disc three times now. It makes you scare to death everytime you do legs. My left foot and leg are still numb. I hope all goes well for you with the treatment.

My ex husband had a disc that was herniated on both sides that eventually ruptured on both. He was taking all kinds of pain killers for quite a while trying to avoid surgery. When he finally did have surgery he felt A LOT BETTER. He was slow getting around for a few days afterwards, but now he's glad he had it done. Granted, he doesn't lift weights at all so I'm not sure how that would be effected by surgery other than lost time.

....hope it works out for you bro.....scary stuff! The cortisone is suppose to hurt like hell when you get it, but they say it makes everything feel much better for a little while. Do what the docs are telling you to do bro....

    peace,

you think that isbad, my friend has deteriorating disks in his back and will be on high odses of pain meds for the rest of his life(oxcodone or hydrocodone). Last week he got steriod shots in his back but those only releive the pain for 4-5 days. He's 28 with 4 kids and cant work ebcause of his back, with out pain meds he cant stand up all day with out his legs going numb. He has one other alternative that requires surgery but docotrs dont want to go that route since hes is so young

Sorry to hear that bro! Cortisone shots hurt like a biatch! Iv had two in my lower back and one in my knockle on my index finger. Just make sure the Dr. numbs the area first then injects the cortisone. Dont let him mix the two in the same syringe, it doesnt help. Trust me i know... Good luck!!

OG ya big girl, man up...

Don't be scared of cortizone shots Key but get it in your head now that they are a temporary solution and only really mask the problem. Was your injury acute or gradual?

I've got a couple of bulging discs and have had epidurals, cortizone shots it all sucks. I don't do squats or deads anymore, just work on the machines, all I can do.

As for cortizone it hurts like He** but it is worth it you will be amazed at the relief. It is only temporary though and it can dissolve cartilage if done excessively.
