If you go to a private resort then its cool....if you go aimlessly wandering around like a tourist...good luck...and expect to hear pssssssssssssssst you need anything? an endless amount of times
I've been there twice. Had a great time the first time, and a pretty good time the second. I recommend sticking with one of the bigger all inclusives. Sandals and Beaches are excellent. I thought the Starfish Trelawney (owned by Superclubs) kinda sucked. It's awesome down there, and MJ is right about the do you need anything thing. Mark
Been 6 times, try to stay in Negril --great beach! One of the best spots is Beaches Negril ..I'd go any day! Got to have a drink a Ricks Cafe! If you are really into it, Hedo can be a blast too>>>>
I'm going to Ocho Rios anyone been there??
yep...it sucks......Dunns river falls was ok...but other that it sucks...you muct be going on a cruise or something...I cant believe out of all that great places in jamaica..that the cruise ships decide to go to Ocho RiosQuote:

If your identity documents get stolen...make sure you know how to reach the Consular Section of the Embassy there and ask for American Citizen Services. Stay in the common tourist areas....stay out of the red light districts. Nothing there but trouble. Remember that the Caribbean is second only to Africa in the area of HIV infection. Have fun, watch your back and double wrap!!!

Not trying to scare you. I used to live in Barbados and I worked at the embassy. I used to brief the military personnel coming on the island. I also had access to the reports about Jamacia and frankly I never went because of what I read.
If you stay on the tourist side of the island..you should be fine. I told you what I used to tell all the young sailors and marines when they pulled into port in Barbados. The crime in Barbados is NOTHING compared to parts of Jamacia.
Sooo many people get rolled all over the world becauase they don't take simple precautions. Put all their money in one wallet, all the ID, etc. What they don't have in one place on their bodies....they leave under the matress in the hotel...like the maids don't know where to look.
Be safe, be cautious and be aware of your surroundings. You will be fine.
Agreed. Stick to the resort areas, beaches and casinos. I've been to Montego Bay and Negril and had a great time. I forget the name of the bar but it's on a cliff where drunks cliff dive. It's fun to watch and participate. Stay out of Kingston. It's a pit.Quote:

Been there and like Mass said..get ready to be asked if you want anything. Bro I didn't even get out of the airport before someone asked me if I needed anything. Pain right in the ass. Stay with the big resorts like everyone said. Dunes river falls was ok. Ricks Cafe is ok. Jump off the cliff if you get a chance. Negril is a very nice beach as well. Remember it is a 3rd world country. Once you step out of the resort you will figure it out fast. People live in freaking Tin huts bro. Don't buy from the street vendors. They will rip you off. And one thing for sure. Pack some food. The food there sucks arse. I swear I lost 10lbs in a week.
I'm going to let the **** you said slide cus everyone's entitled to their opinion.3rd world...WTF ..got it sounding like SamaliaQuote:
