    Tattoo ??'s

Ok, I did a search but came up with pages of threads.

I'm going to get my first Tat and want to make sure I go to the right place, ask the right questions, etc, etc....

What should I be looking for when looking for a Tat parlor?

I don't want to go to some hacker.

    Thanks

when I got my tat.. I went to a nice place. Price is def not how you should chose the parlor. Id rather over pay at a nice clean place then pay half at some hole in the wall. Good luck bro

I think you don't live too far from the area I'm from............. Give this place a look...... I have gotten all my tatts from here by a guy named Shane O'Neil...... He's in almost every Tattoo mag......... has won tons of awards for his work, and has worked with guys like Bob Tyrell on flash.

Are there certificates or anything I should look for?

I'm putting my sons name on my arm.

You have to get some personal recomendations dude. I wouldn't go anywhere unless I talked to several people that are happy with the artist's work.

Of course from a safety perspective, the needle has to be brand new and the tool needs to come out of an enclave. and everything should be freshly wrapped in plastic. This is all the norm now anyway.

check out there portfolios, see if you like his work, you can make the ink lighter if you water down the colors, black can be made lighter also, so if you dont want something real dark let him know that

Is that all you're getting is lettering? If so go to any pace that has a good rep..... but I agree with krunchtime price should never be a factor...... you will have it for life.

the place I got mine at was certified. As far as the artist Im not sure. your sons name is a great idea. Way better then getting a gfs name. I wont even get into that.
Make sure you go and check out a few places before making your decision. I went to 6 different places and picked the cleanest one (it happend to be the most expensive as well)

i have a good amount of tats and the thing i would advise is to check his portfolios. i have an asian theme on my back and the 2 artists who did it love this type of work. i would suggest going to an artist thats know for a type of work, tribal, bio machanical, thats what i would do cause i would not want the artist to tat something he hates. other than that ask around, and if your guy is in mags like mudmans, you cant go wrong.

No, I'll probably put something with it.

Not sure what yet though. I'm sure they could show me plenty of choices though.

lettering shouldnt be that big of a deal... just ask to see the artists portfolio of the work they have done.. and if at all possible try and see first hand some of their work.

i would go talk to the tattoist first and talk to them personally as well as viewing their work. The guy that did my tattoo was competant, but was a total cock, who refused to talk to me at all for an hour while he was drilling into me. Even took breaks to insult me when i attempted to start a convo. I like my tattoo but it will always remind me of that prick. I wish i had gone somewhere else. He ruined the experience, and i have bad mouthed him to everyone who was interested in going to his shop since.

Just make sure the places are clean and they have a good rep. Make sure the place is super clean wich will make the price a little higher but it is worth it in the end
