Most influential person in your life?

Who are the most influential persons in your life? Except your parents offcourse.

My parents probably didnt have to much influence on me. I was rasied very losely and could do what the **** I wanted whenever I wanted.

So I would say the most influential person in my life is my wrestling coach. I only wrestled for 2 years but in those 2 years he turned me from a ****ing fat, wimpy pussy to a maschositic(sp?) bastard. He lit the flame in me that keeps me pushing hard in the gym every time. Whenever I feel like quiting I think of him and what he endured when prepping for the olympics in atlanta.

Other then him my 2 closest friend has alot to do with who I am today. They got me started training in the first place and turned me from geek to wannabee beefcake

and they are also the only 2 friends that have stayed close during the last 7 years of my life. I just hope I can keep that friendship burning even though I now life 1300km away from them.

So lets hear it who has had the biggest influence on you and why?

Although she may never read this ...I will have to say my wife... She is one strong person... with wisdom beyond her years... She brings me back to earth while I have my head up in the clouds....... She showed me what life is by giving me two gorgeous little children which I love dearly

My Son.......If it wasn't for him I would be in a totally different place right now (and not for the better). I was on a seriously bad course when I found out my girl(wife now) wass pregnant. Completely changed my life.

not really so much as an influential person, but just things i have picked up here and there over time. one thing that really sticks with me though was something a person i used to work with said to me....

I used to wake up every day in a bad mood, not sure why. She was always in a great mood and one day she said "Your day is only as good as you make it." Its an obvious statement but it stopped me in my tracks and made me think of how I approached life... I can honestly say I have not woken up in a bad mood a single day since then. I also look for the bright side to everything now no matter how bad it seems to be.

My kiddos...all 3. Nobody else could ever gotten thru my thick skull. They found a different avenue of approach...they went in thru my heart.

Where she finds the time to keep me out of trouble,I don't know.This woman at 29 is a co-pilot for West Jet an airliner up here in Canada and on her time off she flys Air Medi-Vac.What this woman is doing with a man like me I'll never know but I do my best to make her feel appreciated and loved.She can even give a great spot on my 3 plate military press. for me i never really had any role models to look up to like that...if anything i'd see the big time drug dealors in their mercedes and infiniti's and id be like wow i wanna live that lifestyle and drive the best cars...unfortunately im not saying this to be proud of but everyone wanted to run the block if u catch my drift...

My grandmother, god rest her soul....showed me that there are good caring decent people in the world. She helped me to develop the good moral values I have today. She helped me be stong when I wanted to give up. I miss her.

As for bodybuilding.... My inspiration came from two awesome Barbadian female bbrs. Michelle Rowe and Maureen Howard. One of these days ... I'm going to have a picture of them to post. They are both awesome.

I truly believe I created my own success. I am always very observant in life. I tried to see the reason why people failed in their goals...and how I would have done it differently. So indirectly I owe something to those people that failed...I learned what not to do...therefore increasing my own successes.

My mother who 2 years ago did the Dublin, Ireland marathon to raise money for the arthritis foundation. She also has very bad arthritis (rhumatoid - sp?), she raised almost ten thousand dollars she really is a hero to me. She had her knee replaced this past year and had to have othrascopic surgery on her other knee just a few months ago. She will never be able to walk a marathon again, but she continues to be the core of our family, always fighting and being an amazing mother. My father who is 53 years old and ran 7 marathons in just this past year.

my mom for teaching me how to read, write, talk etc. My father for teaching me to pee standing up. He doesnt say much but when he does its important. my grandfather Papi, proving that a alcoholic 73 yo can sill beat the **** out of 20 somethings in the bar still. Wrestling coaches seem to have that effect on their students. I had the same coach from when i was nine untill i graduated. he headed the feeder program and coach hs. my entire work ethic comes from him. he never allowed me to do anyhting half assed and pushed me past my breaking point. Schools should have mandatory wrestling programs. i hated practice but when the season was over i couldnt wait untill the next year.

Oddly enough the person with the least influence and presence in my life, is also the same person who influenced me the greatest, by way of her abscense, My "birth mother"

In my quest to Not be like her, she has taught me so much....

(But I won't bore you with all the details, I'll just sum it up with a few paragraphs.)

She taught me to always keep my faith, that all things happen for a reason, and that for every action there is a re-action. And that my reaction to her actions, has made me a better person.

She made me a better mother, by not being one. She made me search deep within, myself for forgiveness, compassion and understanding, it was there that I found out what I'm truely made of, and found an inner strength to draw from.
She gave me morals, by not having any, she made me appreciate the simplest/smallest act of kindness more so than the average person, by not showing me any. She made me fight harder, love stronger and hurt deeper, which sent me on a soul searching mission that led me to a higher power, as I was told he has all the answers, and I had plenty questions!

All in all I guess my "birth mom" taught me alot, being that she basically set me out like a stray kitten, it was then that I discovered that some people were NOT meant to be parents! And that this world is/can be a cruel place, when your young and things are way beyond your control, which taught me to listen closer to what kids have to say, they have feelings and their opinions should count!
This is also when/where I learned my self worth, as she placed no value on me, which only made me fight harder to find some and claim it! which gave me pride, I have done the very best I know how to, I wasn't raised I just grew up and in the proccess I've raised two very good kids, who know they are loved/treasured/valued! This is my greatest accomplishment in my life, and I'm very proud of it!

So I guess thanks in part to her lack of interest/parenting she influenced me more than either of us had ever thought she would/could.

My grandmother.. for making me who I am inside... for always smiling and letting me know that everything is better because she was around.
And for all those nights I would lay on the couch cushions by her bed eating Worther's Origional's watching old M*A*S*H reruns till all hours of the night

And Coldstone.. for bringing me back to life. Without him I would still locked up in myself, never talking to anyone. And for showing me how to trust again. He is the light of my life and the meaning to every day!

I would have to say my husband. He has always been there through the good times and bad. He has been my trainer and best of all my BEST FRIEND

If it had not been for him I would still be majorly over weight and in very bad health. He is the one person I can always count on for anything, My backbone in life so to say.

I've been thinking about this for a couple of days since this thread started and I haven't been able to think of one positive role model in my life. I guess it's a miracle that I'm at this place in my life because there were plenty of opportunities for things to go WAY wrong.
