    What is Win32k.sys?

My computer kept restarting all the time in tthe middle of me using it. So I turned off the Automatic Restart and now a blue screen pops up that sais Windows was shut sdown to protect the computer and the problem seems to be with Win32k.sys. I ran McAfee virus scan, chkdsk, diskclean, defragged, nothing works, it keeps happening over and over and over.

If you're running Windows XP, check out this site... http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/fi...oad/19139.html

It has a downloadable fix for the Win32k.sys file. It says its for a problem with minimized windows, but it can't hurt.

If you're using XP, you can also go to Windows Update while you're on-line and download all of the updates that they have. One of them may be the one you need.

If you've just upgraded to Windows XP, you may have a conflict with the system drivers that can cause all kinds of problems like that. Most manufacturors don't suggest that a person change the operating system from the bundled software that was provided.

If you install a patch for the OS, you're not going to cause another problem normally. The updates usually incorporate the older version as well. If you change a bios then you can be causing another problem. But you're pretty safe with installing an upgrade patch.

Go to the Microsoft Website .... http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;252192

According to Microsoft, the Stop 0000050 is an error code for Microsoft 2000 and the Stop 00000024 is the error code for Mixrosoft XP.

    What OS are you using?

    http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d...d_stp_ccgm.asp

This is the general web site for the stop code X000000050. You should be able to find your way from there and figure out what the problem is. I can't really point you any further than that not knowing what OS you're using.
