    Tattoo Ideas ???

Lately i've been thinking about tattoo's and maybe even getting one. I am kinda young though (19) and so I got plenty of growing to do with plenty of cycles in the upcoming years.

For those of you who have tattoo's, how has gaining weight and muscle changed the tattoos? Does it change them alot, and do they look crapy now?

Also, what areas of the body are best for tattoos? I was thinking middle of my back, right under my neck. Also, what types of things are good to get. Any ideas of cool tattoos.

Me and my friend were thinking about maybe getting something that hints at gear, but not so obvious

    Let me know

Hitman, that seems a little way to big dude. I was thinking of getting something a lot smaller. Maybe the size of...let's see, a good example I guess would be half a dollar bill. No bigger then that size (i think).

EXCESS: Hmm....I doubt that would look nice on me!!!

I have 2 tattoos - one on each upper arm. One, I got about 8 years ago, the other I got about 2 years ago. The older one is of Calvin, from Calvin & Hobbes. At the time it suited my personality - a bit of a prankster / shit-disturber. It looked cute then, but now it's kind of stretched and my girlfriend thinks it looks scary. She tells me to cover it up when it peaks out from under my t-shirt.

If you do decide to go ahead and get a tattoo, PLEASE make sure you have a connection to what you get. Just the fact that you are asking people for suggestions makes me think that you aren't ready. Remember, this is forever. My brother wanted a tattoo so he just walked in to a place and picked one off the wall. He's regretted it ever since.

They can be addictive, so I made a rule for myself after the first one. If I decide on a design, I have to wait three months. If I still want that design, then I can get the work done. A lot of designs have come and gone over the past years, but I only ended up getting one more - it's of the Chinese symbols for Faith, Strength, and Courage. I got it just before I moved from Canada to the USA and changed just about every aspect of my life.

Anyway, that's enough of a rant for now....

How easy is it to get rid of tattoo's with laser surgery? And does it look good after? I mean is it back to normal, or does the skin look fucked up ?

Also, what about stretch marks. Does laser surgery get rid of them nicely? Make the skin look nice and smooth and clean and shiny and sexy?

Jenna, actually my tattoo is of Grandpa Simpson. No seriously, it's Calvin from Calvin & Hobbes. I also have the Chinese characters for Faith, Strength, and Courage.

I've seen and heard different results as far as tattoo removal goes. It's expensive - at least a lot more expensive than GETTING the tattoo - and it takes several sessions to get it removed - at least 3, as many as 10. And I believe I heard somewhere that green tattoo ink is absolutely impossible to completely remove.

Tnox, I didn't get my first tat till I was 26. Now I've got 9. I like the tribal (Mayan, Aztec) bands, and the Mouri(New Zealand)tribes tats. Of course anything patriotic is real nice to. Check out a movie called, "Once were Warriors." Its a New Zealand production which shows a lot of Mouri designs. I agree with Bad Man though. Wait a few years and be sure what you get means something. Not just to have one. Best of luck Bro. Keep us posted.

There is a tattoo artist here in yown that has a commercial on late nite tv. He has a shaved head and the left side of his head AND FACE are completely covered with tattoos. At the very end of the commercial, he says "If you have found God and have a pentagram tattoo, I'll cover that for free."

That throws me for a loop every time I hear it, because the dude is scary looking.

I think the best tattos are ones that have something to do with family history. Like your family crest or something along those lines.

What about the name of the country you were born in? On the middle of your back, right under your neck???

I think it's a cool idea, except for the pricks who would cause troubles from it, especially since it's a middle eastern country

I think that the country idea is cool especially if the country has a unique style of lettering then you can put it in the lettering of that country.

Hey why not a bar code, I have seen a few guys with that and it makes me laugh. I personally like detailed black work and yeah you must really like the design. Find something you like and then look at it every day for 3 months or so, if you still like it then go for it. If you want pain go for the ribs, hehehe

Thanks Hitman for the correction. Man I love the Maori tribal stuff. Being in New Zealand you must have seen "Once were Warriors." An awesome movie. Man that dude Jake was one bad Mutha Fu!!!!!. Is that movie realistic of how it really is there? And I heard the biker gang Jakes son joins TAU or Tor, I'm not sure, is a real biker gang. I still might get my whole back covered with those big black Maori pattern circles. I think those are badass.

Tattoos I know something about, I have 2 1/2 sleeves from elbow to shoulder on both arms, my upper back & soon my chest. I got most of mine at 18 and added & changed them as I got older. I have a collage on both arms, chinese dragon across my upper back & a gargoyle demon looking sun in the middle of my back. They don't hurt, just very uncomfortable, like getting scratched by a cat slowly. Arms don't hurt at all, back is a little more tender...the closer to the armpit you get, the more nerve endings there are. BTW I think this is on the wrong board.
