Brian Phelps.. What a classy guy..

He had 7 gold medals and a silver I believe and in the latest relay he gave up his winning spot so that his teamate could win the gold. Very classy move by him, and hes only my age.. 19.

I sure know that I would NEVER EVER let someone win over me no matter if they are on my team or are my best friend
    Incomprehendable for me I guess

I think it showed class in stepping aside. But the guy he stepped aside for was the world record holder in the butterfly, so its not like he was stepping aside for a bum...

He stepped aside. Forgot the guys name, but he was the world record holder and didnt have an olympic medal. Phelps stepped aside so he could get his first medal.

phelps gets a medal for it if he races or not. see its the race for the finals, he raced in the first few relays and let the other guy race in the last one. so he would get a medal too. it doesnt matter which race you race in as long as u race in one of the races.(quarters, semis, finals) as long as u raced in one u get a medal if the last team places. i know it seems weird but its swimming.

I have to say I have a lot of respect for him. I thought for sure he was going to crack under the pressure of all those swims and the schedule he was going to have to swim, and he didn't. Not only didn't he crack, but he was gracious and allowing his teammate to swim in his place was just an unbelievablly mature gesture from someone so young. Made me proud.
