Chief, U.S. Navy :) 19 yrs and counting
Yaay, I was mentioned! Weve been havin Ranger PT followed by battalion PT 520-730 MWF and Ranger training (rope bridge, ruck march) 520-7 TTh all last week and till late Oct. It sucks, but totaly worth it. Yesterday we did 270 pushups all together. It sucked.
US NAVY!
I did the ROTC thing- lots of bullcrap put out in those classes- most of the instructors havent been in the mix in quite awhile. I was in Army ROTC and did a stint with the NROTC while active duty at UW..I had to leave that crap..most instructor saw ZERO days at sea, delpoyed etc, had never had military responsibility- (or atleast not in the last 3 decades!) - which is heresy IMO for a military man- worthless.
I suppose it is a good way to get a commission, I am not knocking that one bit- just the circus that runs most units is a joke.
My roommate is in ROTC. I get to hear about all the BS and incompetence, way too much of a hassle for me to ever even consider joining, too many azzholes.
All our instructors have had alot of duty time. Iraq, Afganistan, Korea, and all kinds of other places. One special forces captain has some fvcked up stories from Afgan.Quote:

I was in the Army during the 1st Gulf War. Airborne All the Way!
R = Recruit
O = Officer
T = Training
C = Core
However, I was not an Officer and would not want to be one, I worked for a living. :D I got out as an E-5 or buck sergeant.
