THE PUNISHER'S IMPOSSIBLE WORKOUT. i think Jane juiced.

Tom Jane got some beef on him for punisher, but i couldn't help but think that maybe he coulda got bigger if he wasn't so grossly overtrained. I read in Men's Health his workout routine, and I couldn't believe his routine. His trainer had him lifting TWICE A DAY for four days a week.

It looked like this:
Monday:
4 sets 10 reps, of
flyes
incline bench
flat bench
dips
barbell curls
reverse curls
5 hours later, repeated the same thing.

Tuesday:4 sets, 10-15 reps,
Leg ext.
leg press
parrelell squat
walking lunges
calf raises
5 hours later, repeated the same thing

Thursday: 10-15 reps
3 sets lat pulldown
3 sets front pulldown
4 sets neurtrol grip on arm row
3 sets wide grip seated row
3 sets tricep extensions
4 sets tricep pushdowns
3 sets v-bar tricep pushdowns
4 sets rverse triceps ext.
repeat 5 hours later

friday: 10 reps per set
4 sets dumbell shrugs
2 sets barbbell shruggs
4 sets military press
3 sets lateral raises
3 sets front raises
3 sets reverse flye
3 sets lying hamstring curls
4 sets straight legged deadlift
reapaet 5 hours later

he also did 8 sets of 40-150 ab excersises everyday, whatever the hell that means.


those workouts were an hour long each.
he was also doing cardio a few days a week
His dumbell presses went from 75-105 pounds
his leg press went from 550 for 10reps to 1050 for ten reps
all in 9 weeks
He was also only eating 2000-2500 cals a day

How the heck does anybody grow from this? Granted he wasn't a monster, but still.
What do you guys tink? Did he maybe do a light cycle?
That's a crazy workout. That's like a pro's workout for godsake. Twice a day? Screw that.

I watched some of the punsisher last night, and he definetly put on like 15 pounds of muscle.
He was bigger than the previews made him look.
Not much bigger, but not as small as I origianlly thought he was.

But seriously, that workout is counterproductive. Even splitting two different workouts the same day is bad, let alone repeating the same one.

You could be right, but if you look at him when he was in Dreamcatcher, he was about half the size in that movie then he is in Punisher, and hes cut as hell.

Not really. the comic book Punisher is built like a house. He could have gotten as big as he wanted and it wouldnt have been too much.
Besides, even if the the goal was just to get "toned" and not "jacked", i think purposely overtraining would be a ludacris a idea. If geting toned was the goal all you would have to do is adjust the intensity of your excersises down, not go to failure etc.
But purposely destroying more muscle than can be built back up would not only be the more dangerous way to accomplish that, but also the unhealthiest.

I just can't belive he did all that work on 2000-2500 calories a day.

I could post his diet if ya wanna see it. Seems a bit protien deficint to me. Lots of carbo shakes and such. He did eat 8 times a day though.

John McLaren, the navy seal that designed his training program justified like this:

"come back at least 5 hours later when you're neurologically refreshed but your muscles have not gone into their full repair cycle"

It's not too outlandish...provided he's not lifting really heavy. My guess is he used moderate weight. I saw the movie and I didn't think he looked big at all...cut pretty good but not big.

You all have to keep in mind that this was his main focus for 9 weeks. We all (don't know if I can speak for everyone) have sh*t to do during the day....he didn't....his job was to get ready for this movie...so I don't think it was impossible...nor do I think he did a cycle. IMO

there is 5 servings (if you could call it that) in there of protein whether it be in the form of a shake or chicken fish etc.

Umm.. he wasn't anything id call big. He had a medicore body at best, going as far as to say skinny.

I think that diet is **** though. If he didn't have all those solo carb meals and overal more protein he would have gotten much bigger.

Now i feel bad i even posted his stupid workout. I'm gonna totally fudghe your cycle!
I hope your not serious dude. this program would not be the best for mass gains IMO. He's doin high reps and he's doing these things twice a day. He's doing little to stimulate growth and everything to burn out the muscle. I think Jane is lucky he gained at all on this regimen. He probably never lifted weights in his life, and as we know, novice lifters can make gains the first few months even on wacky programs.
And don't do the diet! It's just not enough protein and overall not enough total nutrient intake.


The cardio they said he did an hour in the morning, but they didn't quite say how often. I would say at least 4 days a week probably.
However, he was also having rugged military and martial arts training, as well as weopons training during this time as well. So i would imgine he was doing something almost everyday.
Keeep in mind all that activity digs into recovery, which is why I'm amazed he made gains at all.

At first look from the previews, i thought he didn't look that much bigger at all, and thought he was to small to play Frank Castle. Then 2 days ago i watched the beginning of the movie and saw a few scenes of him with his shirt of. I inspected his physique meticulously,(in a non homsexual way) and then decided that he looked sigmificanly better than i had previously thought. I originally thought he only put on a few pounds of lean mass, maybe five, but after watching the first half hour, it looks more like 12, maybe 15 pounds. I'm sure his GF is quite impressed.

Now to play the punisher, he could have been as big as shwarzenegger and not have been too big. I dunno what comic you guys read, but when i have seen the punisher, he was an animal. In fact the punishers physique would only be able to be produced through drug use i'm sure, so being too big was not an issue here.

Personally if i was in charge of Janes physique, i would have had him do a 3 day a week high intensity heavy workout. Fed him 5500 calories, watching the carbs at night. Would have had him eat 8-10 times a day, every hour on the hour, high protien, put him on a hefty dose of creatine, and then throw in 500mgs of Sustanon 200 mg deca and some nolvadex for the 9 weeks, and he woulda looked kick ass!
But that's me. :elephant:

He cant have trained very hard if he could train the same muscles with only 5 hours apart.

but, with that said..... I will up the protein for sure, and watch what is happening very closely.

I did the back workout yesterday, the first workout I was doing front pulldowns with 200 pounds for 10... 3 sets later same reps... what really worked was the one arm dumbell rows...

the second workout however I could do the same weight .. but only 9 reps... could of been nervous failure...etc.. but, I think it may work.

I WANT TO TRY SOMETHING NEW...thats all mang.

Good point but heres my view. Having nothing to do all day except train only means he can be consistent. A lot of people are consistent and scientific but cannot make the QUICK gains (for a non newb) that Jane did because you cannot stimulate the muscle or nervous system to build faster than is allowed by the human limit. 4 hours a day of lifting isnt any different from 30 minutes of proper lifting except that anything beyond 1 hour can provide little if any returns. Jane wasnt a noob to lifting and he was a fairly skinny dude despite his lifting both before and after Punisher. He could not have put on 15 pounds of raw muscle even in one year unless he was a noob in his first or possibly 2nd year of proper lifting. There is another way. He may have once had that punisher body and then let himself go. Muscle memory would have allowed him to do it in probably 6-12 months depending on how long he let himself go but we know Jane was never as big as he was in punisher.

Thomas Jane also admitted in a more recent interview that he used to trick which to me means a little PED use isnt going to scare him off. These Hollywood types also do hard drugs so it would make sense that they wouldnt be frightened of a little PED use. A lot of people get to where they are because they are willing to take the easy way. Instead of hard work and character speaking for themselves, they rely on cheating, bribery, chemicals, black mail, character assassination to eliminate competition, lying. Hollywood is brutal. If you cant get the body for the role, we know someone who can.

I like Thomas Jane a lot as an actor and I dont mean to bash him and I dont want anyone to think that life isnt what you make of it but some things are bad to believe if they arent based on whats real or natural. The more people believe the hollywood dream machine the more people will think a lot of the physiques they see are for real and then set unreal goals for themselves which leads to a lot of unhappiness. Shoot for the stars but dont believe the stars got there all by themselves without someone or something helping them exceed natural limitations.
