Is there any freeware or like programs I can download to get still shots of DVD's on my comp? Screenshots wont work I guess because of the refresh rate, I just need a few shots for a project Im doing for school and thats it. Any help is appreciated. thanks in advance

I don't know about freeware but Intervideo's WINDVD 5 has never let me down. About $45, go to a store that sells it and read the back of the box. It's the only DVD vid cap software that I know of that works.

The reason why screenshots don't work is because movies are "drawn" on a different buffer than the rest of your desktop/programs are drawn on. I forgot what this buffer is called, but its provided by your video card and there is only one I think. So when screenshots are taken, data is read from the regular buffer and the data from the movie playing isn't there...so there is usually a blank blue spot where the movie is playing in the screenshot.
Just a little bit of technie knowledge incase you wanted to know...=)
