Owned a 1969 Mustang and now a 1996 Taurus SHO
and love them both... My SHO puts them all to shame
though... **** that car moves and it's mostly stock...
One day she's getting a supercharger and then watch out...
I only wish Ford would have made the SHO's with a 5 speed
from 96'-99' instead of just autos... My next toy my have to
be a 2004 Cobra or just wait and see what Ford has instore
for 2005 and the Cobras...

oh SC, stop making excuses about it being cheap to build.......you confessed your love so openly when you thought no one would find out. Just admit it, chevy makes some good cars.
and buff, who are you? The corvette IS a CHEVY, and ALWAYS will be so DONt act like it isnt. you'll always be a ford guy, well you're driving a big fat chevy biatch. And its a car that ford will NEVER top so just admit that you and SC love them all and love to have butt sex in your girly fords.

GM is so far behind in automotive technology it's sad. Nascar is going to 4 cam motors next year, what's GM going to run? They don't have 4 cam motors yet. LOL, even crappy dodge has a 4 cam engine. Now that's funny

out more... Guess they were being kind of conservative with it...

In my mind i tell myself it's not a Chevy, but a Corvette one
of the few things Chevy got right... The part about me and
SC is classified info.. I will admit I want a new C5 real bad...

I know my Ford has more top end then my classic Vette, but
my Vette has style to it... 1980 L-48 4 speed... Thinking about
dumping a ton of cash into her to make up for what chevy did
to most of the older Vettes, which was make them very slow...
About 118 MPH top end stock is nothing special at all...

Since we have a Chevy guy in the house you think making
a stock 350 Vette engine into a 383 stroker is work all the
work? Or just build it up without the 400 small block crank?
The Vette's been begging to have some $$$ thrown at her
for awhile now...

I want all the numbers to match... Guess there's no point since
it won't be close to stock anyway with what I want to do, but
I want to use the original engine... Been thinking about going
with a fuel injection setup on her... The old Rochester Quadrajets
really don't give great throttle response anyway... Still not sure if
I want to go with a fuel injection setup though...

I've had the car for awhile,... Keep it stock just as for a summer play toy...
But been wanting to make her badass for awhile now... Thought of the
MPFI setup, but really would like to keep it closer to what a true older
muscle should be with a carb... That's why I thought the 383 stroker
would be a good place to start... It needs to be rebuilt anyway, has
over 100K mile on her now... Why not go all out and do it right... I out
a heavy duty clutch in a few years back, but I know the rear and tranny
will need more to hold up... A Vette can become a money pit real quick...
I'd throw $10K into her for sure and then would need another $6-$8K to
get the paint done right maybe more when it's time...

If you'd like to get about 400hp out of your chev, I can tell you part by part what you need.... natty aspirated, iron heads....

OK.. basically, I built my 350 myself... and got close to 400hp.. (approx., when I factor in dynos of similar engines etc...)
- L31 model Vortec heads, from Scoggin-Dickey Parts Centre in Lubbock, TX... they milled them, and put on Z28 springs to allow up to a .525" lift cam, they are iron, and factory (other than the springs).... are good to about 430hp stock... www.sdpc2000.com
- bored the block 0.030" over, Speed Pro hyper. pistons, flat top....
-reconditioned con. rods with new bolts... turned my stock crank 0.010" under...
- Edelbrock Performer RPM intake
- Quick Flow Technology carb (Holley) 650cfm...
- Complete Comp Cams valvetrain, except the Z28 springs: Comp High-Energy pushrods, Comp 1.52 Roller tip rockers, Comp Lifters, XE274 Comp cam...
- Compression ratio with the 64cc chamber heads yields about 10.4:1 compression ratio, so you need 94octane gas...
- New HEI from Proform, new water pump, etc....
- Basically, the heads and cam are where you make our power w/ this....

I dont know if that will put him in under the 12 second time What do you think the potential could be blown? Those vortec heads are for sure the best value...but i would personally like a more exotic AFR set of aluminums (but again if buff wants numbers still to match, that is a no-go)
