why the van for no clear reason

So i get home from work today, which is a lie because I don't work. Okay, so i get home from a random drive so that people think I have a life, but that's besides the point. Anyway, I get home and discover that my neighbor has purchases a brand new van...one of those Nissan Quests with the fancy shfting console and the dvd screen that pops down for the kids. So far so good, right? WRONG!

This guy is 23, has NO kids, and is not even married. He isn't even in a rock badn or anything. He works as a writer and editor. Yet, for some reason, the guy buys a mini-van. WTF!? I asked him why and he said, "no reason...just liked the way they looked." I mean come on, the thing cost about 30K...he could have gotten a much nicer vehicle that fits his lifestyle and personality, but instead he buys a van for no clear reason. I don't get it.

I hope the schtick isn't getting TOO predictable. There have been some goldmines for parody, but they seemed a little 'risque'...I mean, i don't want to parody someone's heartfelt thread/confessional, but I may have to start if these are getting too 'cookie cutter'.
