haha way off bro, the stock market is a great place to make money...the stock market on a whole has shown an average 12% gain over the last 15 years. If you know what your doing and dont get sucked into the market manipulation then u can make tons of money. My second (u usually always lose your first year, u gotta pay to learn) year trading i made over 100 % gain on my money and have done that well if not better every year after, have been trading since i was 17.. If you get a good system and can stick to your rules then its a great business. No employees, no product to deal with, no rent...the list goes on and on....

E-trade is ok, i would recomend Ameritrade(datek) over E-trade if u wanna get serious about investing, E trade charges to much for limit orders which is all the serious investor well use.
Some good books to get you started, any book on jessie livermore...Im not sure what the name of the one i read was, but thats a great book. By far the best book i have read is Profitable Cadlestick Trading by stephen W. Bigalow. If u really wanna get serious about investing and get into the market I have all kinds of info bro..
PM me and i can get u started on a good path..
    oh and tell me weather
Are u trying to day trade(not for newbies), swing trade(what i would recomend) or go long.
Are you gonna to be using techs. or fundamentals.

    Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham
    Millionaire Mind by Tom Stanley
Education of a Speculator by Victor Neiderhoffer
    Anything by George Soros
