    If youre American does that mean you're ancestors are most likley English or German?

    I was thinking about this the other day.
    You have african americans, irish, italian, latin etc but no english or german american. Seeing as how when the pilgrims/governing body voted for the national language and english beat german by like 1 or 2 votes it makes me wonder, as they (english german) were obviously the majority they took the title of Americans and the other's from other countries retained a slight differenciation. So who here is really a dirty Kraut

    I think it would be fiar to say at this point we are mostly "mixed breeds" therfore full blooded peoples cannot be considered Americans!

    Don't forget the French you Americans love so much

    The mid and eastern US is full of French ancestry... just the town names are a heavy hint to anyone who speaks french. I can list hundreds from Wisconsin to Florida.

    Swedish (great grandpa was a Nettlebladt who won skis from the King of Sweden) and French Canadian.

    Canadian ancestors came from France around 1660, trapped furs. Still have French relatives growing wine on a chateaux. Swedish family had German ancestors tracable to Rostock, Germany in the 700's (before Charlemane).


    But to answer your question . . . Americans are mostly of European descent -- but not for long.
    Texas is 51% "minority," meaning Asian, Black, Hispanic, American Indian. California is close to being mostly minority, if it isn't now, as is Florida and the other southern border states. And seeing how their birth rate is higher, it's just a matter of time until the US is mostly non-european minorities.
    Not that it makes any difference . . .
