Got Arrested.....In Mexico!?!

yes thats right I got arrested in Mexico. New years fvcking day at 1:30am, just when everything was starting to get good.


Some of my friends were walking to a different bar and Some guy drives by and says "hey you fvcking pussy", to my friend. he was going to let it go but they parked all of 30 feet away from us so we walked towards the car and they jump out and start be tough guys (not to me to my friend that is 5'7 and 180). So I kindly said "I don't like talking much... so if you would like to go back to the U.S. with a broken dismembered face I will happily oblige you, they argued with us and with each other for a minute and decided they didn't want to be murdered in mexico....Anyway I wanted to be the bigger man and as they were walking up the stairs to the club..I walked up and apologized and attempted to shake hands. Then 30 seconds later the policia came up and arrested ME, the bouncer pointed me out and said I was starting a fight (that didn't happen). the cop said nothing to me and put the cuffs on me.
I'm in the car and he says " how much to make problem go away" I was like WTF this corrupt bastard.......then he said "how much money is in your wallet" and I told him that I had my friend take it out of my back pocket as they were arresting me.
Jail in Mexico is the worst thing I have ever seen worse than the movies, old rusted steel bars, sh!t on the floor, six people in a cell with one bed, bleeding, pissing on themselves because they are to weak to move ...anyway I was in there until 2am and when I got out most of the people had left to go to the after parties. the moral of the story Don't ever argue in mexico and then attempt to apologize because apparently that is a crime if you are a tourist.


Oh yeah I almost forget that all of my friend were mad at me because they had to bail me out and they lost their girls for the night.

I hope the rest of the year gets better because it sure started out pretty fvcked up.

u shouldn't be surprised at all, that was the whole reason for the arrest. in Mex, brazil and many other countries, law enforcement is a for profit business. these guys LIVE on catching gringoes doing anything questionable.

you could have spared yourself a lot of hasssle if u had your friend slip the cop your money, instead of hiding it. that's the system, he just can't do it in front of people.


to these guys, slapping the cuffs on is just opening negotiations.

I know some people who moved down to Mexico. They got pulled over and were told they had to bribe the cop so they could contine on. They had done NOTHING wrong. They had met a friend in Mexico who said, "If you have any problems with the cops, here's my number. Call me." That's what they did. They called. After their friend spoke to the cop they spoke to them. Thier friend told them, "Pay the 200 Pesos." They paid. After being escorted out of town the cop told them it would cost 100 Pesos more to continue on thier way, for using his cell phone. It may have only cost you 50 to get out of jail, but wouldn' it have been worth it to have paid 150 and not have ever gone to jail in the first place??? I would have paid.

I told my friend to take my wallet out of my back pocket while I was in cuffs because it had 1000 bucks in it. So I couldn't have paid.

no, when I went in to booking they handed me a FVCKING BROWN PAPER BAG and a magic marker and said write your name and adress on it. Then my friends bails me out and that was it. No court, nothing, they just want the good ole american dollar.

im from hermosillo, mexico, and all that is true. Be carefull when you are in tourist places @ mexico and border towns.

Here is illegal to drink beer at street or public places, take care. If cop get you on this, is jail for sure for some hours as you described.

I'll be the first to commend you on NOT paying the cop off. True I would have, I would not want to sit in that jail cell either. But you made sure this dirty cop did not make a profit off you.

I have a friend who born in Mexico, he now lives in the US. He's a funny guy, good guy and hard worker, he tells me about times in mexico. He loves to fight, it must be from being in mexico. He told me one story about when he was simply buying fireworks when he was 14. A bunch of cops raided the place (a fireworks tent!) and just beat everyone up with clubs. They did not make one arrest, take any money just ran in beat people with weapons and ran.

Are all parts of mexico this bad? If I ever go, I'm going with a crew thats for sure. Sounds like everyone there is looking for a fight, weapons are abundant and the police will do little to offer protection to the people brining money into the country...the US citizens on vacation.
