Nothing wrong with marriage..everything depends on trust and honesty. If two people can be honest w/ each other, there is no reason to sneak around. My wife is my best friend. I will tell her anything.

Never been married, but 85% of my friends that are HATE IT on come level within a few years. Meanwhile, I do WHAT I want, WHEN I want, WHO I want, WHERE I want and nobody spends my money but me.

Well said bro. I think the instituition is great in itself but unfortunately the courts haven't really updated the legislation for the 21st century. Marrying someone should not set one partner up for a legal arseraping like it currently does. In this day and age many women make more $$ than men and many dad's are better single parents than mom's. The old cookie cutter formula of man gives up custody and pays alimony has got to go IMO.

you can have a wonderful committed realtionship, and if you truly feel the need to give her the option of forcing you to pay her for the rest of your life if things don't work out, you can have a lawyer simply write out a contract for such. it will be much cheaper than the divorce attorney the majority of people who get married need.

don't let people sucker you into thinking you need a piece of paper to treat each other well.

I got married at the age of 20. It will be 5 years in May. I wouldn't trade it or her for anything. She is my best friend. I (because of religious beliefs) believe that in order to have a strong society we need strong families. Look at the Roman empire. It fell apart becauseof the moral coruption within the family. The family unit breaks down....society breaks down. I am sure I will be flamed forever for being so traditonal. Fortunately I don't care. This is just my humble opinion. It deffinately won't work for everyone.

I like marriage but I think along the lines of Chica........the courts are outdated. I think one of the biggest things that needs to go is the no fault divorce, that would keep people in check and make them think b-4 trashing their spouse.

I look foward to marrying the girl i'm with.

On the downside...i think the laws on the post-marriage situation need updating..They're too biased towards women (i.e. unfair to men)

MMA - agreed but in many cases parents would not financially support their children or people would just say %^&* off and take all your stuff and move in with someone else.

There are 2 issues the children and personal property, both get ungly in a broken relationship. People need to be held accountable to someone because otherwise they will run amuck.........especially in these times.

    Amen brother!

A marriage is only as good as the man and woman in it. I've dated some very classy and great women and I've had my share of redneck trash too, you just need to hold out for the right one and not settle for less otherwise you could regret it for the rest of your days!

I'd say biased period. No fault divorce was for adultering husbands, maintenance and child support was for deadbeat ex-husbands/fathers as well as all the property laws.

The tables have turned, now women are as bad as or worse than men and need to be punished accordingly. No fault divorce is crap. It is someones fault in almost EVERY case. Someone is cheating or unhappy or whatever. Irregardless whoever breaks their promise of fidelity and comittment needs to be gutted. Marriage is no joke and the courts treat it like it is one these days by No fault divorces.

I agree. It is always someone's fault. One or the other, and sometimes both. Marriage deffinately is not a joke. It is a serious institution and should be treated as such!

Agreed, however those laws are extreamly biased toward the woman, I personally pay more than studies say it costs to raise 3 children. The end result is that I am paying hidden Alimony.

That is part of my point, I should pay for half of what my children need, not all of it. It just allows my sorry EX to sit at home and not work.

Marriage is probably the second most life altering event anyone will ever do....but it has to be with someone you love more than you love yourself. If the woman you want to marry isn't your best friend, understands your short comings and still accepts you for who you are then it's going to be rough.

The most life altering event you might be wondering about.....that would be the birth of your first child....any child for that matter.

    Fellas,

Let's get back to the point....

marriage is a wonderful thing. My wife look like a goddess on our wedding night. Our first born was miraculous. I like being married. The sessions at the marriage counselor are just amazing..... It is so much fun. Dealing with the hormonal changes really allow me to get in touch with "her" feelings.
Listening to EVERY part of her day is also quite enjoyable. Watching ballgames all day on a rainy Saturday is way over exaggerated, especially when "the lazy bastard" never helps with the Laundry and always sits on his fat ass except when he's going to the gym. I used to like my friends, I know realize they are all just degenerates. Her friends are much more emotionally supportive and understanding. Hunting used to be fun, now why does Bambi have to die???? I try to teachmy son how to be a "man" but actually I'm just turning him into another emtionless desensitised jock. I still like sex tho.
I mean me and my girlfriend really like gettin it on to porn.(right hand girlfriend). It's even better when my goddess catches us at the computer.
If I stay out a little late and don't call I now realize that I am not being a suitable husband or father. If she stays out late I know now to accept it because I do not want to smother her. I used to surf a few mornings a week. But, it has been apparent that if I have time to surf I should be making breakfast and helping get the kids to school.
Divorce would be cool, but I actually LIKE to eat. See I'm in California and after 10 years of marriage your SCREWED.
I do still love her. I always will. Would I do it again???? At this stage of my life.....F*ck NO! Should you if your young......absolutely you should.
We need to continue to destroy the maleness that we have and become more effeminate. So do it....at least once.
If you are married blissfully like me, buy her the books by Laura Slessinger "The proper care and feeding of husbands" and Woman Power. These are great for us guys.(No Sh1t)
Well I should get back to work now cause the kids need clothes, she needs to get her nails done and a few new pairs of shoes.
Now if this rambling dialogue doesn't clear things up nothing will.

Married 16+ still in love and still miserable.......depending on the day

Been married and divorced. Got married TOO young and we grew apart. The mistake I made was marrying someone I didn't like when I was sober !!!!

Anyway, we had a no fault divorce. He took the things he was attached to (music system, humidor (**** him) and all his fuking motorhead tools. No child support, no fighting over bills or anything. It was a mutual and relatively painless. He took the stocks and bonds he came with and signed away his rights to my retirement.

So....not all WOMEN are blood sucking parasites. Some of us can be pretty reasonable.

Future........of course I want to get married again. I have to be sure when I do it again. The man I'm dating now.......I'm going to marry. It will be his first and my last. We share sooo many things. Love of gym, community, self improvement, etc. It's going to be a very long engagement.........there's so much to learn about one another.

I think that our society is too used to a "fast food" kind life. Need to eat, drive through and get it....no matter how bad it is for you. Want to get married.....drive through and bam....wedded bliss. Then reality sets in. All that fast food was good at the time but you eventually have to deal with the other side of it. So......when things get rough in a marriage, if there isn't a quick easy fix.......we log on line, fill out a form or two and tada....DIVORCED.

Before you can settle into a solid, successful relationship......first you have to know yourself. Then.....get to know her. Really know her. Get past the sex haze.....and make sure you are compatible outside the bedroom! Can you support one another when money gets tight....when you want to train....when she wants you to watch the kids so she can go to the gym or just have some time to herself. If you can get through all the ups and downs as a team....you'll be successful.

    C.B.
    1. Once a cheat always a cheat!
    2. YES, SHE can get pregnant the first time!
    3. NO, PULLING out IS NOT a RELIABLE method of Birth Control. DAMMMMIT..... Wrap that shyte UP!!

Women over 30 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you, if they think they can get away with it.

For all those men who say, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free". Here's an update for you. Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage, why? Because women realize it's not worth buying an entire Pig, just to get a little sausage.

What the mind can conceive....the body will achieve!
