yeah i agree the fight was real...but u think his eye actually popped out? if that actually happened...i dont believe his first reaction would've been..."dam nigga chill nigga chill dwag sheeet"

I dont see too many punches knocking eyes out of peoples heads,...sure it would probably hurt too....a LOT....

    just my thought

Bro its 100% real. The dude is local here. He's been on the news. The house the fight was at is owned by a little old lady. They gave her money to hold the fight in her backyard, but she said she had no idea what was going on..They hold local street fights here all the time. From what the cops say its not illegal for them to do it. As long as they are both willing participants..

again, not denying the fight was real...I know who he is, as i also mentioned him and his little white buddy head a porn site, which you already know since u named a couple others urself....their entertainment providing is one of the reasons why i think the eye popping thing is REALLY fake...but mainly its the fact that its nearly impossible for an eye to pop out from a punch, and for him not to be screaming in agony if it happened.....my.02

Kimbo Slice came to fame from this video only to be challenged by a MMA fighter to a real fight (knees, takedowns) but Kimbo's people refused and said they wanted a standup only match.

Gannon went ahead with their special rules and came out on top, Kimbo sucks!

I'm not impressed by kimbo at all, that being said i wouldn't hit him with a ten foot pole as i wouldnt want any of his blood on me. You'd have to be brave to come near his blood. I'd maybe fight him if i had a hazmat suit.

He looks like any other scumbag i see walking through the ghetto any day of the week, the only reason he's popular is because he's black, ugly as hell and has the ability to throw a hard punch. There are so many better fighters out there who aren't pro's. I'd look a lot tougher if i had his hairline too. Gannon creamed him, it was a thing of beauty. People need to see through this marketting ploy, all he is a sideshow.

Kimbo vs Gannon: Bad For The Sport
Reported By: Boxing Insider - 12.06.2004 02:33 AM

Bad For The Sport, Cop Goes Underground
    By Ken Pishna, BoxingInsider.com

The internet has been abuzz over the past month about a fight between Boston police officer Sean
“The Cannon” Gannon and “professional” street fighter legend Kimbo Slice. In fact, due to Gannon’s employment as an officer of the law, he and Kimbo made the front page of December 3rd’s Boston Herald newspaper.

The Herald’s cover shows a series of images depicting the two slugging it out, Gannon kneeing Kimbo in the face, and a close-up of Gannon’s bloody face.

    The headline?

    “Cop On The Beat.”

Gannon also made the TV news as NECN (New England Cable News) did a 2-minute piece on him and whether or not his participation in the fight was illegal. Though they didn’t talk with Gannon, NECN did talk with two of his training partners about how he is such a great cop and how his fight with Slice was a “sparring” match.

I’ll confess that I haven’t seen the entire fight (just the brief clips on the NECN news piece and a few photos), but from what I have seen and the accounts that I’ve read from Gannon himself, it was anything but a sparring match. The two beat each other bloody and didn’t appear to hold anything back. Plus, they agreed to a set of rules ahead of time. Gannon even went so far as to defend himself afterwards as he was accused of cheating. Yeah, sounds like most sparring matches I’ve witnessed.

Great coverage for the sport of mixed martial arts, right?

Obviously this kind of coverage does nothing but push mixed martial arts back ten years. Hopefully most reporters will be wise enough to separate this underground street fight from true mixed martial arts. Unfortunately, Gannon will be a huge factor in just the opposite happening.

For those that aren’t aware, unlike Kimbo, Gannon is a fighter that really does train and compete in the sport of mixed martial arts. He’s not just a street fighter doing backyard brawls.

According to Full Contact Fighter, Gannon has a very credible amateur record of 5-1 in legitimate mixed martial arts competitions and has apparently done well in Golden Gloves boxing competitions. He is touted as one of the best heavyweights on the New England mixed martial arts scene having fought for the highly regarded Mass Destruction promotion, as well as Hardcore Fighting Championship and CombatZone.

Marc Grabowski, a writer that has covered many of the fighters in the New England area, did a piece on Gannon earlier this year. In that article, Gannon expressed a desire to “become accepted as a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu/Mixed Martial Arts instructor at the Police Academy.”

On the NECN story, Gannon’s training partner said that he felt Gannon was a great cop; that he “could trust Sean as a police officer that will watch my back.”

While I’m sure that is true and that Gannon may well be a standup guy and a great police officer, as a representative of mixed martial arts and the Boston Police Department, he made an abhorrent decision by participating in this type of underground fight.

If the guy wants to advance in the legitimate sport of mixed martial arts and if he wants to be an instructor (especially at a police academy), he should not be taking part in activities that are borderline illegal and, at the least, underground.

It may or may not be illegal. It may or may not be in violation of the rules and regulations of the Boston Police Department. If Gannon were not a mixed martial artist or a police officer, I really wouldn’t give him the time of day and neither would have the Boston Herald or NECN.

The facts are that Gannon IS a mixed martial artist and he IS a Boston police officer. He has responsibilities to both. He lived up to neither.

    More good stuff...

    OG

Gannon: I'm tired of the controversy, people saying he was killing me, that i only won because of the chokeholds. i just spoke with iceberg, kimbo and i are having a rematch, with better rules. as it stands, it will be at an undisclosed (but fully legal) location, but we are listening to offers from other organizations.

Question: "When you say better rules, do you mean vale tudo rules or just being more detailed on the rules from the first fight? "

Gannon: If you read them, our other rules were very detailed, with clear definitions of what groundfighting and kicks were. it's not our fault if his team didn't read them.

Question: Gannon - Write me at [email protected] or call 612 386-4458 and we will have this on MMA Evolution and we can finish our discussion on the air.

Gannon: Mike i knew u made me an offer, and i talk freely to the other fans, but rules and regs say i have to get prior permission from my commanding officer b4 talking to press. i'll file my request as soon as possible. sorry about any confusion.

Question: "Undisclosed (but fully legal) That makes no sense to me."

Gannon: There is no law that says a fight can't be legal unless chokeyou is informed of location and hand delivered an invite. right now its undisclosed mostly because we haven't decided where to have it yet. it will probably be picked up by one of the major promotions anyway.

Question: "First of all, you're a warrior. Second, are you doing this just for the money? You beat him once. Even though you won you obviously took a beating also. Is it worth getting deformed or injured over? For Kimbo, that's how he eats. It can't be that much different from prison life. But you have a career man!"

Gannon: Thanks bro. the fact is that there is a chance of getting hurt anytime you fight a good fighter. it would be at least as risky to face an elite MMA striker. this is the fight game. "this is the life we have chosen" - the godfather

Question: Wherever the **** this one is, I'M GOING!!!!! Somebody sell me a Gannon t shirt, quick!! - Joe Rogan

Gannon: Joe, thanks for the support, you will be one of those invited to the "undisclosed location"

Question: "LOL @ all the experts trying to manage Gannon's" career.

Gannon: They're better than some of the sherdoggers. they're advising me to turn down offers from the big events to fight guys who are just as tough in KOTC, but for a lot less money and exposure. yeah right guys, hell of a way to manage!

i'll cut and paste some of their advice, you wouldn't believe it. i worked, hustled, overcame all kinds of obstacles and took all kinds of risks to make this happen against all odds, fought my heart out, but i should say no to the big promotions that want me because somehow i don't "deserve it". there were several elite strikers that could have done what did. but the fact is, i did it, not them.

"input is one thing..the crap that some guys on sherdog say is another...they sit there and try to tell gannon that he will never become a successful fighter unless he follows their directions on how to train and who to fight..its a joke..."

most of them are cool, but there is a small group of haters that tries to tear down anyone that tries to accomplish anything and some of the management advice they give about my career is insane, read my posts at top.

Question: I think you can get away with it the first time. If you make a habit of doing this someone will go down. Mark my words. If you continue to do this someone will get you fired and yes, at that point you probably would deserve it. On the other hand, if you are SMART, and have it in a real MMA show, it would be awesome. And I would definitely watch it! - Johnny Walls

Gannon: Walls is correct, we don't want to take a chance on hurting the sport. this will be a sanctioned event of some kind, tho possibly still bareknuckle (brazil vale tudo maybe?)

Question: Gannon ever think about reffing? i think you would make a great ref..maybe with the UFC...u are huge and you are a cop so you are used to controlling situations and enforcing rules - Goku

Gannon: When i'm retired, all i want to do is fight now
