    Question Serious Pet Question...

If you had a pet that is found to being carrying the virus that
causes Feline Leukemia and your Vet does not want to treat
the animal with anabolics like Equipoise that helps to increase
red blood cell production and helps deal with one effect of the
virus causing anemia would you do it on you own anyway???

Poor little guy is only 1 1/2 years old and when I found him
some cocksucker cut off half his tail and he was also almost
straved to death... Has been sick as sh*t for the last 2 months
plus with infections that don't heal even with high strength
    doses of anti-biotics...

He's cool as sh*t, even taught the sumbitch how to catch a ball
and my Vet of the last 20 years is not very open to this type of
treatment. I almost blew the fuk up when at first he didn't take
me serious and suggested he just put the cat to sleep... I know
something is very wrong, test comes back tomorrow, but the Vet
is pretty sure or maybe FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) Feline
HIV in other words... Not contractable by humans so no worry...

I only want serious anwsers on this, not bullsh*t jokes... I don't
plan on having him put to sleep, so since my Vet won't help, I
will research and do the best I can on my own... Serious advice
would be cool, especially if anyone is a real Vet (Doctor) on the
    board...

Definitely don't put it to sleep, cats are the sh1t man I've always liked cats. He's only 1 and a half yrs. old he shouldn't die yet that's just cruel. So if i were you i'd go for it if your vet won't do it. You'll feel d*mn good about yourself if it all works bro. So research it top to bottom and get it down or maybe find another vet.

I also suggest you look into finding another vet. That's awesome of you to take the cat in like that. I've always loved animals, have a cat myself and I'm looking into getting a smaller dog right now. Good luck man, seriously though...Let us know how it goes.

The little guy is the coolest... I love cats and dogs, but this little
guy catches like a dog, even follows me arounds like a dog, this
sh*t has been going on for awhile and he keeps getting very bad
infections in his nose where blood actually comes out and his ears
and the anti-botics that are strong as **** considering he's only
a 10lbs cat should have cured any and all infections, so something
is fuking with his immune system...

He still eats and plays like it's no big deal, but it looks real bad and
nothing has been able to stop it for 2 months, just slows it down...

what's fuked up is when I found him he came running to me like I was
the one to save him and now talking to my Vet it's my job to have him
put to sleep or more to the point kill him.... Little dude trusts me and
I never betray trust animal or human, so how the fuk can I make the
    decision to have that done?

I know anabolics as well as other drugs, spent years of my life with
researching them, one of my favorite things in the world... Why not
treat him myself if I can? Just dones't seem right to kill the poor guy
when maybe I could keep him healthy as long as possible...

search for a new vet. the cat of my gf has fiv too, living with it for 6 years now. high doses of vitamines and antibiotics are necessary to keep him alive. anyways it doesn t look like he wants to lose the struggle, so they try to keep him alive, as long he doesn t torture himself too bad.

I love animals too and I would stick to the plan of keeping the little one alive.

Get a 2nd and 3rd opinion but never let your emmotions can't in the way of doing the right thing. If that was my dog I would be doing the same exact thing. GL with everything.

Bro, check with other vets. If they all agree, it is time to consider that they might be right. Nothing hurts more than putting down an animal that thinks you are God. I'm teared up right now thinking about one that I had to put down because of a broken back and severed spine. When she saw me walk in the vet's office, she lit up like "daddy's here, I'll be okay." I will never forget that look on her face. That hole through my gut will never be the same either. This has been 10 years, and it can bring me to tears now. So by me saying that it could become something that is in the best interest of your little buddy to avoid the suffering...know that I am not being a dick. I am being sincere, and I know how much it would suck.

Hopefully, one of the other vets will have an idea how to help.

Buff I am not a big cat fan. But if he is your little guy then treat him the best you can. Never know the cat might live for another 15 years..

    Good luck bro..

Daaayum, i knew you were a big softy Buff.... Bro iv been in your shoes a few times. Just recently with a little kitten i found and was to sick and she passed. Anyway, your doing the right thing bro!! It sounds like the little guy wants to live, so why not give him every opportunity too. Before doing any "self" medicating id wait till the blood tests come back and if your Vet wont help you then i would go to a different Vet. Try and find a emergency Vet hospital. I took the kitten i found to my Vet and they said she was to far gone to help her. I wouldnt except that and took her to a emergency Vet hospital and they did everything they could to save her. It cost be over $400. but IMHO it was worth every penny trying to save her little life...MAN im welling up just thinking about it....FUK!! Anyway, do what you can bro. Your a good person!!!

I agree with everyone check with other vets.. One time my family all went on vacation except for my sister due to work. So she was left with my cat, this cat was the most awsome guy ever. Well he got into anti-freeze, We spend like a $1000 trying to save it, I came home to find he had to be put down.. A couple months later I was telling I was told by another vet that they used the wrong procedures and he could have been saved in a different way! So don't give up just yet, try other vets, or if you feel confident try what you think will help

Good luck man. I have two cats and I would do anything to save them in that situation. As long as he isn't suffering I would say do EVERYTHING you can to save him. Definately look for another vet because they may be more open to alternative treatments. Should you not be able to find a vet to help you, then, after researching your ass off, deffinately try the self medicating. Good luck and keep us posted!

I guess I should add something in favor of continued treatment, after my rather gloomy previous post.

I had a Dobe that slept in the bed with me through college. He moved to the floor when I got married. He was my first son. His spleen twisted at 2AM one night, and I flew to the vet's office after waking him up via the phone (the office is 20 miles from my house). I helped in the surgery.

A few months later, his stomach twisted....Christmas night @ 9PM. Again...down to the vet and under the knife.

Some time later, we went on vacation and left him at home (this always drove him nuts). We came home a few days later to witness him having a seizure. A few trips to my local vet and a sleepless night later, I got him an appointment at the UGA vet hospital. Over $3k later (just at UGA), they had no idea what was causing the seizures, but they had him on drugs that changed his personality a little and kept the seizures at bay. This lasted about 9 months. Cardiomyopathy killed him the morning we were to go on vacation. I was in the kennel with him when he died. We were at the vet's office after quite a hair raising ride down the interstate (100+mph in the grass of the median for a good portion of the trip...passing cars who were camped in the left lane).

$3k is nothing compared to the joy I got from the additional time I had with my boy.

I really dont think he needs to be put down for that.... poor lil guy has had a rough life, spoil him rotten, turn his life around for him.

That's good to hear... Thanks for that info bro...

That's the same info I found after researching it, but why my Vet is
so sure having him put to sleep makes no sense, it's not $$$ because
in the last 2 months I've had him there 4 times and he's only charged
me for one office visit... He wears a Rolex and does alot of free work
for local Zoos, but he still thinks it's best to save the animal from any
pain and suffering... I'm not about to have him put down if that's what
it is... I'll know today... Thanks

The little guy is only 1 1/2 years and only showed signs of this starting
2 months ago right around the holidays which made things hard to deal
with this year... The Vet has been almost my whole families Vet for 25
years plus... He's very good and knows his stuff, so I plan on having a
talk with him today after the test results are back... If that is what he
has FIV or FeLV then I will look for a 2nd opinion/Vet on this one...

Bro that look on his face is exactly what I'm trying to avoid...
I have a hard time dealing with this kind of stuff... It really
gets to me... I was the one that brought him home and saved
him and now I'm suppose to be the one to have someone do
that to him, I just can't even imagine... He just showed signs
of something being wrong, there has to be a way around it if
my Vet is right, at least for awhile...

    BTW thanks Swellin

Ahhhh Buff....all of you men.....bit softies!!

Def get a second opinion...find a new vet. You'd do that for yourself if you didn't like what the doctor was saying.

For all those men who say, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free". Here's an update for you. Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage, why? Because women realize it's not worth buying an entire Pig, just to get a little sausage.

Yeah I will get a 2nd opinion if that's what it is, but it has to be...
The little guy was on 250mg per day of anti-biotics for 2 weeks
twice and only weighs 10lbs and it did nothing to clear up the bad
ass infection, so he must have something wrong... He's a cool little
dude... Sucks to see him suffering...

Man I know how this sh*t feels. One of my dogs (siberian husky brothers) started getting sick when I was in prison. My wife was taking him to the vet 3 times a week getting him IV's and all kinds of meds and he was on a special diet. His kidneys ended up shutting down and my big strong dog looked sick as ****...so skinny man. I missed telling him goodbye by 3 f*cking months... Good luck with your cat bro but be sure you spend good time with it while you can and make sure you don't keep the cat alive just for you and that it has a good quality of life. Same as you would want. Take care man...feeling it over here...JC

Sorry to hear that CB. Bagheera ran away from us once. We were a mess. Luckily he came back that night and we were sleeping so crappy that the motion detector light woke us up. We were lucky to be able to grab him again and bring him inside. Neither of my cats are aloud to go outside now. I hope she comes home!! Good luck!

    Yeah good news so far...

He tested negative for both the FIV Virus and the FeLV Virus...
The Vet had to put him under and take both scrap and take a
piece of his nose and ear off and switch it back up to send it
to the lab to test for cancer cells... That will take a week to
get the resutls back, so it's another 2 weeks of another kick
ass antibiotic to try to clear it up...

He looks so fuked up right now, nose is bleeding and his ear
and he looks like that Mitch Willams dude did after Mike Tyson
punched him in the eye years ago if you remember that pic?

He looked bad when I took him in, but now looks like he had
the sh*t kicked out of him, but the good news is he doesn't
have the antibodies for the 2 main viruses that would have
meant big problems for him, now I just have to wait on the
results of the cancer biopsy for his nose and ear...

The Vet with 25 years experience told me he honestly had no
idea what was causing it to keep coming back over and over
again for the last 2 months... But at least it wasn't what he
thought it was... He said he's never seen a case like this one..

Thanks for asking bro... All of you...
