ANYONE GOT A FREE MINUTE: help my out of shape mom..

Hey guys, My 52 year old mother decided to start working out with me, I thought I would help her out a little..

She has about 30 pounds to lose, and in the last month I have put her on cardio 3-4 times a week for 40 minutes.. Bought her a heart montior to make sure she is at her % for MHR..

Well starting today we are going to do 15-20 minutes of weight training along with the cardio..

I would like a quick nice starter routine for a M-W-F schedule..

I am thinking something along the lines of pushes/presses routine's..

Bench ( on a smith machine, or hammer machine ) and pull up ( on the cables )

if somone has a minute to throw somethign quick an easy for me, that would be great..
    Thanks all

I agree with Deca bro. I have her go to the Dr's and get a full work up just incase. I asume she hasnt been working out and at her age to jump right in is probably not a good idea. Major props to your mom though!

Thanks all.. She has CLL Chronic lymphatic leukemia, and emphyzema. The emphyzema is barley there, she got it from smoking and obviously quit now.. The CLL Is dormant right now, she has it, but does not treatment, and only has to check her blood levels every 6 months..

In any case the doctor told her it would be a great idea to start working out, there are no limitations on what she can or can't do. She is feeling better than ever at her 50 years of life..

So I am thinking just to get some feel good hormones going some weights ( light ) would be a nice treat for her

I would like a quick nice starter routine for a M-W-F schedule..

jump squats, hang/power cleans, jerks and dumbbell snatches. Finish it off with some wind sprints and running some stairs first skipping one step, then two, then back todoing every step with a weight vest.

    Hope this helps

Mustang.....post this in the Female Questions section and you'll get a better (and serious reply) there. First and foremost she needs to see a doc and make sure that she's ok given her age and medical issues. Then I would suggest a total body to start with for a few weeks.....until her body gets used to lifting. One movement for each body part....not too heavy just some good resistance. Machines might be a good way to start. You can keep her form strict and hopefully minimize chance of injury. If your gym has a circuit training room......you might want to try that.

With circuit training you can work to keep her heart rate up, burn fat and build muscle at the same time.

    Hope thise helps.

    3. NO, PULLING out IS NOT a RELIABLE method of Birth Control. DAMMMMIT..... Wrap that shyte UP!!

Women over 30 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you, if they think they can get away with it.

For all those men who say, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free". Here's an update for you. Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage, why? Because women realize it's not worth buying an entire Pig, just to get a little sausage.
