This is kind of an old story, but something today got me fired up about it...
I went on a cruise with carnival cruise lines over new years. the cruise was supposed to leave mobile, alabama and then go to cazamel, mexico. we showed up in mobile and boarded the ship. once we were on board, we were notified that the ship was having a problem with its propulsion system and that we wouldn't be able to port in mexico. basically, the plan was to cruise around the gulf for four days and then head back to mobile. they weren't offering refunds because we had already checked in... maybe if we would have known prior to boarding, we would have been able to do something. they did give each person a $100 credit on their on-board purchases. it ended up being carnival's oldest and smallest ship and the cruise as a whole turned out to be a disappointment. the really ****ty thing is that when we returned to port, there were hundreds of people lined up to get on the ship after we got off. was carnival just continuing to take people out on ripoff cruises? apparently, a class action lawsuit has been filed, but i doubt i will ever see anything from this. i know that my next cruise won't be with these scammers.
