    Computer problems...slow boot up

I have a 2.5 pentium 4 with 512mb and the mother fvcker just took over 15 minutes from turning it on to where i could actually use it. I ran defragmenter, disk cleanup, and speed disk and its still slow as hell....any ideas?

XP Service pack 2 slowed my PC down by 30% or more...
That's probably the problem... I went back and uninstalled that
crap and it was back to normal... Just made more problems then it
was worth even if it does make security updates that are worth it...

Spyware doctor works MUCH better than Spybot.

Nortons is pretty awfull also and sucks up system resorces.

I'd use AVG, might want to run trend housecalls online virus scanner.

Use Spyware doctor in safe mode, chances are your infected with hella spyware.

Your best bet would be to reformat and start with a clean install.

I personally hate norton, as J-Dogg said AVG is a good anti virus prog and its free.

I had the same problem lately. So I burned everything I had (that I still wanted) on my hard drive, then completely cleaned the hard drive and reinstalled windows. It completely fixed the problem. I think it was most likely spyware.
