I've always underestimated Karate type guys, but that made me appreciate those guys more. I still think a regular kickboxer that is fairly trained can whoop the majority of these Karate black belts.

I know a little info. on that video... that happened at miami-dade communtity college which is obviously not located in the best of areas... that was a off duty police officer/martial arts instructor that just happened to be teaching a defensive tactics class to a police academy... talk about bad timing for a pimp...miami-dade cranks out police and correction officers all day every day 365 days a year... I happened to take the corrections academy there back in the day... our instructors showed us that tape and you can see the perfect example of a quick take down using one shot... that instructor is infamous for that... the tape is on because they record your defensive tactic moves in order to grade and to cover their ass in case someone is hurt... i bet the camera man wasn't expecting to get that shot.

At full or light (continuous) contact yes, without a doubt. At semi-contact the Karate guy will have most likely have the advantage, done properly semi-contact SHOULD be lightening quick and devastating, although I hate it.
