    phsyics question

    a 1,200-kg car is moving at 25m/s collides with a 9000-kg moving at 20.0m/s. They are both moving in the same direction. What is the trucks final Velocity?

    Is this a static or elastic collision?

    If it bounces off then 23.3m/s, so 23m/s

    If they stick together then 20.6m/s, so 21m/s

    It's probably elastic.

    So the first one.

    It's easy, all you do is multiply the 1200kg by 25 m/s and add it to 9000kg times 20m/s then you divide the whole thing by 9000kg, the weight of the truck.

    It's momentum: p=m*v
