Corvette - Old man's car or not?

My friend is selling his and it is a sweet deal. It is a 40th Anniversary Edition. It has 85k miles which is the only downside, but I don't want it as an investment so I could care less. I'm driving it everyday not letting it sit under a car cover. It's a 6 speed, Ruby Red, and the front lifts off the ground practically when you come off the clutch. I love this car.

The thing is I am worried about how it will affect my image. Typically older guys drive Corvettes IMO, but my opinion isn't always right.

I know, that's what I thought, but being behind the wheel of it is orgasmic.

You will mostly see older people driving them mostly because:

    1. Most people that have vettes have them as a second car and are used as a weekend/fun car and not a daily driver and unless you live in an area where it never snows, then it's not really good as a daily driver unless you plan on switching to snow tires every winter (Pain in the ass, believe me I know).

    2. Since most vettes are second cars, the majority of those that can actually afford them and the insurance (which usually is quite high) are usually in their 40's and above as they usually have more capital for such purchases.

    3. Alot of the older people driving vettes drive them because their love affair with the corvette started at a very young age, most likely when the vette was the be all to end all of all cars.

The vette is a great car, it's a part of american automotive history and has a large fan base. Driving the vette you'll notice that others in vettes wave, honk and what not.

So regardless of your age, or the perceived image of who does and does not drive a vette, it only matters if your happy with it. If you love the car and love driving it, then f' what anyone else thinks, however if you are too concerned with what others think about what you drive then you probably have insecurity issues.

Good god man, get a Mercedes, BMW or Lexus. Nothing says vanilla like an American car. I would rather drive a 20yr old German car than a brand new domestic. Just my 2 cents.

I've got a Z06, but it's my fourth car. I definitely notice most drivers are 35+ and usually sporting some kind of cheesy handlebar mustache or pseudo-mullet.

I may. I really need to think about this. I am going to borrow it and drive it around and see how the girls react to it. That's what it is all about bottom line. There are plenty of fast cars out there, I just need one that is vagina friendly.

my friend is 18 and drives a 2005. that things the sh!t the only reason u always see older guys driving them is because they're the only ones who can afford the car and the insurance.

    My thought exactly...

Trust me, if I could afford a vette (car, insurance and gas!) I'd have one!

Of course I wouldn't say no to a new stang... I test drove one last week at my local ford dealership. It's sooo sweeeet!

I had my first one when i was 18. The Vette gets em wet Here is a breif story of the first week i had that thing. So, at a huge foam party...wasted, and start doing my thing with a random amazingly good looking girl. Fake tits, long blond hair, whole 9 yards. After some dancing, kissing, etc, we pause to hear each others name. As she is working her ass (in a skirt) into me from behind she asks what i drove. I tell, and next thing i know is that my one hand is comfortably still on her ass, and now the other has been taken out front...and shortly after the deal is sealed The corvette can definately help trouble find you

Only if it's an 78' or older. I've a 68' convertable so it says I have class and a LARGE penis. Old man's car indeed! I can't dirive down the street without pussy hanging off the side of the ****ed thing. I get offers of blow jobs sitting at red lights....yes from women you asses. Saying you have a vette, remember older model not the new one, says you've arrived, saying you own a mustang says you're almost there.

If the vette you're looking at Loz is an 84 or 85 do NOT buy it. Probably the second worse year vette put out a vette, way too many problems. Number one was 68". 68' was the first year of the long body style and had a ton of bugs.......I don't even want to mention how much money I've poured into her getting her sound. In fact it got so bad that I've stripped her down to frame and plan on redoing the whole thing again. Had her set up for race and this go round I think I''ll make a highway car out of her. I think I can get her up to 160 with the right setup.

I agree on the 84-85. Horrible cars.

    Juggy, sportin a 68. Sweet!

I got a 67 split back window in pieces in my garage. When I'm done, the rims will spin inside the tires.

YOU HAVE A 67' SPLIT WINDOW??? And you have a Jag...........well isn't that just wonderful! Hey, how bout hopping in the car, take a drive down here for a visit and kick my dog while you're at it! I seriously dislike you more and more each day. You sold your soul to the devil didn't you?

Well you couldn't have picked a better year. Very popular year, hard to find and complete stock with all numbers could fetch close to 80k if you sold it.....mint condition of course.
