    Car Audio question

I just got a new car and it has steering wheel controls for the volume, mute, track, etc.... Is there any aftermarket CD players that I can get that will be compatible with these buttons or are they going to go dead after I take the stock one out?

I dont think there are any CD players that will do that. Pretty sure it has to be the custom player already in the car.

no you just have to buy some sort of adapter. I worked at a car audio place and my manager had an acura rsx and his steering buttons worked with his aftermarket deck, i believe it was alpine.

You could probobly find a good car audio tech that can do the wiring on an aftermarket cd player.. just look around and do some research. what kind of car is it? have you called the car dealership and asked them specifically?>

It DEFINATELY can be done, to certain cars, with the right attachment.

If your aftermarket head unit has a remote, this is the solution for you.

Thanks for the info guys. Now I just need to figure out what deck to buy for the new ride... I really really want a LCD screen but if I remember correctly theyre around $700.

It looks like those adapters work for Alpine, Sony, Pioneer, Clarion, etc... sweet

Its a 97 Pontiac Bonneville, and I bought it from a private party so I dont think the dealership would be too much help..

Anyone here have a grand cherokee with the infinity gold stereo? I think the deck is just fine, single cd on face. I would like to add a single sub and replace my tweeters, but dont kno where to start.

If you're going to spend that much you might as well step up to in dash dvd/tv. i had my clarion dvd/tv shipped to my door for about $940.

I got the Alpine CDA 9835, its a great unit. If you want more flash, then go with panasonic or jvc ie:color screens and bright lights. IMO alpine and pioneer are the worthwhile investments. Almost all my friends with aftermarket decks have alpine.

pioneer is my choice for decks. they seem to be reliable but have a much easier price tag to handle than some comparable decks that cost much more.
