I'll have to say it does work, I've done it. However, if he doesn't stick to the diet it'll all get stored as fat. Tell him to be careful, if he doesn't change his eating habits during, while and after his weight loss the weight will come back at an alarming rate and more than not he'll gain even more.

Tell him to ditch the dogs and start bringing Salmon instead....I found it worked better.
