Question on installing a pedistal sink.

I'm installing a pedistal sink in my bathroom. I'm wondering how I am going to bolt the pedistal into the floor. The layers to the flooring are tile, mortar, 1/4" plywood, concrete. I drilled a pilot hole into the tile to try and bolt the pedistal in with lag bolts. But the lag bolts don't want to grab onto the tile. Anyone have any other suggestions?

perhaps rubber grommets? that fit IN the hole and will expand around the screw, being rubber they should not break the tile. That or caulk the ****e outta it with adhesive and set it there! lol

Is this on the ground floor, and do you have access to the underside of the floor? If so you can place a 2X4 beneath to attach into.

If it is on the second floor, your only choice, unless you want to enter the ceiling of the floor below, is to use toggle bolts.

The bathroom is in a finished basement. The floor is concrete underneath the tiles. I have no access to the underside. I don't think the toggle bolts will work.

okay then predrill the holes, make sure you have rubber washers so the sink and tile won't break, you will have to use a drill socket fitting ( for the bolt head) It will need to be a bolt not a screw actually) IMO to screw in the bolts, do not overtighten!

also make sure you drill shallower by a bit and narrower by a bit for the bolts!

So your floor, is tile, mortar, 1/4" ply, then concrete? If so that's even better, go to your local Home Depot, and rent a hammer drill, and drill a hole into the concrete, and insert a wedge anchor, into the concrete, read the instructions on the wedge anchor before you rent the hammer drill, so you get the correct bit. I work in construction we use them all of the time.

drill four matching holes in floor...buy some pour rock set four bolts threads up ,,mix pourrock and put around bolts ..... wait ..... then bolt down sink.... easy and cheap...
