when i got out of the marine corps in 78 i went in to work as a service hand, worked on 24 hour call, company truck, expense account and all, made great money but was never home. saved my duckies and quit and became a firefighter, plenty time off but not much monies at first. i have a 28 yo son whos been in the oil field since he was 18. he works on a supply boat makes 310.00 a day. works 28 days on and 14 days off. here in deep south louisiana, seems everybody works out in the gulf. you can make good money, but the oil field is up and down. good luck charlie r

I checked out the oil rigs once. It's 2 weeks on with 12 hour days and two weeks off. Transocean is the biggest company in the world for offshore oil drilling. E-mail me and I can give you a contact name and e-mail there. It's a longshot if you have no experience but if you're a ff'er then you could probably get on. It pays decent but not as good as everyone says at the start. You just move up the scale quick.
