Internet use blamed for break ups.....

LONDON, England -- The Internet is becoming a frequent cause of the collapse of relationships, a leading marriage guidance organisation has warned.

One in 10 of the 90,000 couples who seek the help of UK-based Relate now cite the Internet as a problem, with obsessive use of the medium blamed as well as its ability as a communication tool.

Both men and women complain of becoming Internet "widows" as their partners spend hours at the computer downloading software or looking at pornography.

Sex chatlines and sites such as friendsreunited.co.uk, which can rekindle old school passions, pose further threats to relationships.

Relate's chief executive Angela Sibson told The Times newspaper on Monday: "Our counsellors report that, more and more, the Internet is a relationship breaker."

People aged between 25 and 35 were most vulnerable because they were the most frequent users of the Internet, Sibson's deputy Stephen Bagnall added.

"This is a peak time for people's first serious relationship to break up and it is also the age when many people get married for the first time," he told the paper.

If my g/f gets pissed off with me on the net I get off and play my role within the house but she views it as a "hobby" the same way as she has hers.

Mind you if I was surfing porn all the time I guess she would get pissed off.

I,m not surprised though at the facts

I feel possibly the relationships that have broken up because of use of the internet was because of the relationship already being in trouble. This is IMO when a partner will turn to internet to escape & talk with someone who will listen to them and also give them advice since their partner (husband/wife) may not listen anymore. If two people are truly happy and completely open with one another their should be no problem being on the internet. Surf together, it always works and it's fun too!
It's when they hide their net relationships from their mate, and I do believe this should NOT happen. What it all boils down to is be open with each other, their should be nothing to hide. JMO

Good call BW. If someone is looking on the net, then there must be a problem already. Hopefully people will communcate that there is a problem and work on it before they seek outside companionship.
