I'm currently trying to get in the Corps myself...waiting for a vision waiver to go through...it's got me a little worried :\

Former USMC infantry r***eman here... how bad are your eyes?
Former Cav Scout here...needed lots of waivers to get in...be persistent and you should get them. Write to your congressman if need be.
Although I'm not in the USA I do have 20 yrs military experience (and counting) behind me and would wish you and your comrades 'god speed' in the future.
i was in the military. 4 years.
future US Airman, I ship out August 30th.
19 Yrs US Navy! Still serving....and the only fem in the military on here....I think.

If it's decent living conditions you want, go for the USAF. Usually get the best of everything. But if you like to camp out and sleep with the bugs, and don't mind taking your "dumps" without any privacy, then the Army or Marines are for you.

In the US Navy presently, former US Army...vision waivers are common occourences both a MEPS and once folks are in the service. You can look in the DoD MEDMAN or P-117 which is avail. on the net and see wiaver processess and maximums. This might give you a picture of how the process works.

If you have a patrol dog, when there's a disturbance, you'll be called out to flash your dog, because people tend to settle down in a hurry when they think someone might sic a K9 on 'em. They know you won't shoot 'em, but they dunno if you'll let the dog bite 'em, and they don't want that . . .
You'll like it. Keep your attitude up, you'll make of the experience what you want, so take advantage of the learning opportunities, eat as much of the free food as you can (it won't be free when you get out), and have a good time.
