Yeah, no sh!t. This is known by almost everyone on this board. Pretty much the only people who don't free-bar squat are those who have back or knee problems...Quote:

Funny, I use the smith machine quite often in working legs. (Yes, I do free weight squats as well)Quote:

A better title for this thread, one that is not a sweeping statement, would read:
"An intelligent man knows how to use a myriad of leg exercises to obtain maximum development".
Then again, what do I know.

Lots of people at my gym with a big upper body and chicken legs, they don't understand that to have a good physique they must do squats, dead lifts, and bent over barbell rows.
I agree those are great mass builders, yes, but you can attain great development/size by using leg presses/smith squats/hacks/extensions/lunges/ham curls/stiff legs/deadlifts/etc, w/out having to free weight squat.
I like the free weight squat, but there was a time post-surgery (two surgeries actually) where that was not an option for me, but I managed to get everything back using other exercises.

Just joking dudesQuote:

I still do deads though, just very light weight.
I just meant they are so physical demanding that most people try to avoid them. I need to learn to love squats.
Nailed it.Quote:

I do my squats on a smith.. Its a little bit differnt one that has an angle to it and is on a cable.. I feel safer doing it then free.. I put 1 inch on my quads in 5 weeks so it must be working still. I dont have chicken legs either my quads are 24 inches.. What is a real good size quad just curious??
My gym is so lame Im the only one who squats reg., most of the guys just stare, then maybe next week theyll try, get sore and never again. World Gym in hampton bays sucs monkey nutz!!! NY (LOL just had to vent, my fav. back machine has been broke for 8 months!!!!) :wg:
I usually sit when I take a dump... squatting is so third world... :D
Red
I hate leg day. Always feel like puking.
I love squats, they're one of my fav workouts. Smith is a nice variation on squats, so are hacks. It's nice to have the perfect vertical raise that the smith offers.

AKA Leg Presses, to a slight degree :)Quote:

I knew what you meant, I was being sarcastic, meaning, just do more work...I get the same feeling, could be that the owner of the gym doesn't consider it right unless you're sweating. The gym has no A/C and is typically 85 degrees plus so leg presses and squats will murder you
how did all u guys get injuries in ur knees?
True that....if u physically can and just say nah legs look bad when big or ill sitck to the leg extension :1laugh: fvck that get the fvck outta the gym!!!!Quote:

Same with me all the rich middle aged men work out at mine...i love leg day because i know no one will be near the free weight squat. Everyone stares during theyre like.. wow people actually do those.Quote:
