    Question Mp3 players--Looking for...

    Hi,

I am looking to get the best mp3 player, Hard drive based or micro.

What is every one here using and do you like it?

Does anyone know of any websites that show new mp3 players for the up coming fiscal year?

Does anyone know of a good site that rates mp3 players other than cnet, epinions, and mp3.com

    Thanks for any input.

I got an iriver. it's cool. 512mb I get about 4 workouts before hearing a repeat of songs. I like it because I can wear it around my neck, and it's not as bulky as some others.

yeah, using bluetooth technology, but you have to have a compatable MP3 player, and they are still pretty expensive, but i have no idea of what your price range is...

go for it then... but beware, when i use the bluetooth on my cellphone, it sucks ass, and I would imagine that the quality on the headphones is the same, although i dont know anyone that has a set.

I use the Nike/Phillips flexible earbuds and I dont have a problem with them. 30 bucks at best buy.

Yep, I love the iPod. I think the new version has all kinds of features that make it difficult putting downloaded music on it. I've got the older one and have no complaints, aside from the battery life. But, for $79 I got a new longer lasting one installed.

That is strange. There is no software change between the two. Just a firmware update.

I've got an I-River IFP-899 that I've really enjoyed so far...it's holds 1G, so you can put plenty of tunes on it...The only downside to it (and some other models I looked at) is the earbud type earphones..I hated them because they wouldn't stay in place during cardio or lifting ...A good bro suggested I go with the Shure E2C earplug type earphones and they are the shiznit...They stay in place and since they are the "noise-canceling" type, you don't have to keep the volume turned up as high so I get even a little more battery life.....

I don't know what firmware is. 2 of my friends got the new ones and they always have problems getting music on to them. My mom's got one and it is a royal pain. Sometimes it lets you put music on, sometimes not. I never have any issues with mine.

Most likely it's their computer, not the iPod. I have the iPod Photo and I have no problems with mine.

I like my Ipod mini and now there only $200. Although I am sending it back for the second time because the menu button stoped working.

You might want to take a look at Napster to Go.

You can download the Dell Jukebox for free from dell. Thats what I use, and I download music from limewire.

Yes, you can. Specially the iPod shuffle. It's tiny and it's not hard drive based so there are no moving parts inside.

The thing about subscription services, if you don't pay your bill, your downloads will not play. So lets say, 3 years from now, you lose your job and have to cut back on expenses. Or you're just plain broke. All of thousands of songs you have downloaded for the past 3 years will not play since you're not paying the monthly fee. They're just gone. What I like about iTunes, once you pay the .99 cents the music is yours forever.

That's weird. What if the music is already on your iPod? There is no way in hell that it will just be erased once you stop paying your bills? Or can't you put it on the iPod in the first place?

It doesn't matter to me anyway, I was just curious. I get all my stuff either from limewire or mp3search.ru The Russian site works like iTunes, but instead of 99 cents, it's 10 cents. Also, mp3spy.ru works the same. If you want to save money, you should check out those two sites.

You can't put napster or Yahoo on an iPod. You can put them on windows media based mp3 players. When you go to play the music or to synch your player, windows media contacts the subscription service before playing. So, yeah, all of your music will stop playing if you don't pay your bill.

lol I know. Subscription is cheap. You can listen to millions of sounds but it's rented. Not yours.

The only problem I've ever had with mine is the battery going dead after about three hours. But, I just sent it out to have that new longer lasting one put in and got it back today. They say it'll last for up to 20 hrs. It was $79 to replace it, but that included shipping and it only took a few days.
