    Christian Bale

I read somewhere that he gained 100lbs in 5 months for Batman. Just wanted to hear opinions.

100 lbs in five months would be hard for a pro let alone an actor, would have to be alot of water and alot of fat, lean mass? impossiable. After seeing him for him to of gained 100 lbs, he would have to started at 90 lbs???

If he doesn't work out? I don't think so. The guy was emaciated at 120 lbs. For a guy who's 6'2 that's an unhealthy weight to be at. He gained 60 lbs back within a month of starting to eat regularly. That puts him at 180. Then he started weight training and eating like a bodybuilder. To gain another 40 lbs in 4 months that's 10 lbs a month, 2.5 lbs a week. For someone who was emaciated and lost a lot of muscle, and for someone who never works out, that's entirely doable in 5 months. JMO

Alot of actors juice for role's but I dont think Bale is one of them, first of all did you see him in the machinist? He starved himself for that role. Did you see him in American Psycho? He worked his ass off to look that cut. Bale is dedicated as hell when it comes to his role's, I know this may sound cliche but Bale isint one of those run of the mill hollywood actors.

The guy is obviously dedicated and works out (he had to for his past roles), after hitting 120 I think it's entirly possible for him to look like he did in Batman Begins (Dunno if he was really 220 but he is 6'2)

I agree with you on that, But thats alot even for a genitic-gifted pro bodybuilder. Even in a whole year that would be alot.

Who said it was all LBM? And 100 lbs is huge for a bodybuilder. But you're thinking about two different things: LBM and someone who works out regularly. I know a guy in his 1/2 year of working out and eating right that went from 130 lbs to 170 lbs. Entirely natural w/o juice. But he had never touched a weight or ate more than 1200 calories a day in his life before that. There's your 40 lbs right there. Pros can gain 20+ lbs back in a DAY after fasting before a show. You gotta remember that this 100 lbs wasn't all LBM , no way. mostly water and fat. I'd guess he was about 12% in batman.

He did. but he was emaciated! that's the whole point. He lost over 60 lbs starving himself preparing for the machinist. I don't see why everyone is calling BS on him gaining that weight. go see the machinist and then go see batman begins right after. you'll see the weight

I dont know if anyone posted this yet... but its true!! He lost like 50lbs for his last movie (probably played some HIV, cancer, anorexic role) and then had to bulk up past his normal weight to play the batman role!!

Here are some before and after. I think is possible. I agree with the point thats already been brought up: he was at an unnatural 120 lbs, it would be easy to gain 60 lbs to get back to his natural weight, then a good diet, exercise routine, and maybe a little sauce to get him that extra 40 lbs.

I don't think he juiced. I was down to 120 and put on 40 pounds in a few months without lifting, just eating healthy and often. BTW im 5'8" and he's 6'2". And when i did start lifting i put on even more weight with ease. Its easy to put on weight when your emaciated like that...

Remember, it has to be 100lbs. I knew before I said that statement I was going to get ppl throwing 20,30,45 lb weight gains at me. This guy went up 100lbs in 5 months? I maybe wrong but it is hard to believe.

Its not that hard. I'm 5'8" and put on about 80 pounds in 4 months and only 2 of those months i was lifting. He's 6'2" and was lifting and eating the whole time, its not hard like you think. He probably put on about 20-40 pounds in the first few weeks, just from carbs...

What secret.... Become emaciated down to a weight of just skin and bones (~100-120 depending on your height), then eat healthy, eat often and lift hard for a few months...

If that were true wouldnt everyone on this board be over 220? I would say most have worked out for more than a few months.

If everyone was 6'2" yes. In which case if you lift smart and have a good diet, at that height, you should be over 220...

Yes but most have been working out for more than 2 months. He said he was not working out till he got the roll and then he started hitting the weights. So, lets review. He gained 100lbs by eating carbs for 3 months and working out for two. Damn, Im going to get some bread.
