Was he really that bad?

I just recently read an article written by Shawn Ray on his old friend Ken "Flex" Wheeler. I have always loved Flex and thought he was one of the best ever. Yes, he did seem to have some ups and downs and seemed to lose his faith in the sport from time to time. But I knew he had a lot pf probs with his mother and had kids at a really young age so not to make excuses but I gave the guy a break because he seemed to have a lot of tough times.

Do you think the article is fair? Is Flex an @%$hole? Because I think my respect for him has been dropping...

Flex is an ahole at times but he is still a genuine person. I think a lot of his anger stems from the way the bodybuiliding community put him up on this huge shelf claiming him to be thedon mega of the sport when he wasn't ready to take on that role.

Good call on that one. I always thought he was great, seemed nice in the interviews and what not also. Thanks

the guy was never given enough credit IMO. His physique was killer

He's admitted several times that he was a huge d*** in the past, and that as a person he didn't even like himself very much. I think he turned a new leaf and has done a complete 180.

As for Shawn Ray, that loudmouth will say anything to get attention. Though what he said might be true since Flex admitted as such, I don't put stock into anything he says.

I agree 100%. That guy had the best symmetry EVER. He would stand next to guys like Nasser and look bigger....... Definitely blessed....
....Whatever, he used synthol in his calves, blah blah blah, but symmetry wise no one could touch him.
About his character, I dunno. The only bber I ever met was Mike Matarrazo (sp?), and he not only took a pic w me, but also spent his 15 minute pump up before his guest posing talking to me (this was at the So. States 1994).
