my arms F*cked after an arm wrestle
i walked into the pub to see my mates on friday and before i'd even sat down some guy shouted at me "oi you and me are gonna have an arm wrestle"
i personally hate arm wrestling cos u can cheat and i dont think its a good indicator of strength
he was a big bloke - skinhead, tattoo's everywhere and i found out later he was ex SAS and had just got out of prison that day on a 6year stretch
anyway all my mates were egging me on so i did it
we were in deadlock for about 5mins and no one was going anywhere (another reason why i hate arm wrestling)
eventually i just said fck it i cant be bothered mate i'm giving up
(otherwise we would have stayed like that for about half an hour)
he may have been stronger than me but to be honest i couldnt really give a sh!t
now my elbow is fcked
went to the gym today and had to do a very light workout
i'm considering taking the whole week off otherwise it may not heal
any one got any suggestions?
anyone here arm wrestle?
i've been taking glucosomine and msm to try and get some water round my joints

I NEVER arm wrestle anymore, everytime I do it I **** up my elbow joint just to the inside . The problem with arm wrestling is it's all rotator cuff, joint, and forearm. So even if your huge it's difficult to use it to your advantage. Actually, most of the best arm wrestlers I know are skinny guys who look like they have no muscle at all. It will heal, just give it time. May be a few days, may be a few weeks, if you were locked up for 5 min it may take awhile!!!!!

actually, I think I'm going to tell these arm wrestlers that instead of arm wrestling lets have a bench press competition with 225 for the most reps.

yeah G, I know exactly what your talkin about... If its really bad, take a couple of days off. YOu most likely strained your ligs/tendons in your elbow and your just really sore. Time will heal bro. Its not bruised is it?

I wrote in another thread about arm wrestling and the injury I got from a hard fought match. It damaged my ulnar nerve. You can do a google search and find out about the ulnar nerve and some key excercises to strengthen it. I took 1 day off from the gym and then kept going. It is a horrible pain and even ice doesnt really help it from my experience. But if you have damaged the nerve or at least worn away the sheath that protects it, it will regenerate. Just try not to irritate it anymore, and look up some excercises to strenghten it again, since a doctor will probably suggest physio. A good test to determine whether you have done damage or at least irritated and inflammed the nerve is to wrap your pinky and ring finger (of un-injured hand) around your index finger and middle finger of the opposite hand and squeeze as hard as you can. Now do the exact same with your injured arm (using your pinky and ring finger from the injured hand) squeeze the middle ad index finger of your other hand. Since the ulnar nerve runs down into these two fingers you can get an idea of the dmage if your "grip" is significantly weaker in the injured hand. This will tell you whether or not you did infact injure the ulnar nerve and will let you know where you need to go from there. Let me know how it goes.

thanks c bino
it doesnt hurt so much now - i can still feel it a bit
i thought i'd try and get away with a chest/bi workout on monday and it hurt beyond believe
couldnt even manage cable flyes
i'm doing legs today then taking tomorrow off and debating whether or not to take the rest of the week off or to get back into my programme
thing is it will probably feel alright in a couple of days but i dont want to irritate it anymore before it properly heals
