I just heard that my little girl went to the doctors and they heard a heart murmer. I dont know the severety of it but, it doesnt seem to be bothering her they said. Does anyone know the potential risks involved in these? Any advice or info on them is welcomed. Thanks, I feel like shit.

My youngest son was born with a heart murmur, I was scared to death but come to find out that it was not as big of a problem as I thought........ He was diagnosed with a VSD ( a small to medium sized hole in the heart that was allowing blood to flow thru......... We saw a heart specialist every 6 months and now once a year the hole is getting smaller as he gets bigger and that even if it never completly closed up he would still live a normal life, sports, etc without any problems................ He only has to take antibiotics before surgeries and dental work.............
How old is your daughter and what kind of mumur does she have?????????

I had a heart murmor as a child and it went away as I got older. Now my heart beats in an nice regular fashion. I would not worry at all unless the doctors determine that there is something seriously wrong.

damn, what a coincedence, my buddy just told me 2night his daughter has the same problem. It's a small hole in her heart, she is 7 months old now. They told him chances are it would go away with time. I feel for you, best wishes
I have a murmur. In most cases there is nothing to worry about.
I also have one. She may need to have antibiotics before dental work when she's older....but many people have them and live normal lives.

i have a minor one. was told its nothing to really worry bout.
A pal of mine has had one for 60 years and it hasn't slowed him down any. YMMV.

Mine was found in a medical for a job, like 6 months ago. I knew something was different by the look on the docs face, when she took it. She said it was quiet strong and strange it hadn't been found b4. Told me not to worry to much. The fact that it was quiet obvious meant more than likely it was nothing to worry about. If I was concered my family doc would have a better idea because he would have my patient history etc.Quote:
