Looting In New Orleans
How do you think the looting situation should be handled? I think it is just horriable that these people take this opportunity to empty out the stores of hard working people and take what ever they want. I heard Wall Mart was completely emptied. It looks like the cops have no control over it.

I think they should be shot when they are caught doing it.
That's scandalous to the 9999999999999th degree.

If people are freely looting, who's to stop someone from laying a smack down on there asses? Kinda hard to get caught for taking a few out when there are hundreds dead already. Sad.

SC that's the horriable thing. Martial Law was declared and these people still get away with stealing sneakers, TV's and shit not necessary for survival. I would understand if they were desperately hungry. Horriable!

i also think its funny that the people with no flood insurance are torching their homes. i know they've tried that before and the insurance co. rules the fire is flood related so in the end they get nothing.

It's a shame when people need most to pull together as a community some choose to infuse fear and mistrust in their own backyards. I hope the rescue efforts are successful. From what I have seen and heard things do not look good.

Insurance will cover the crap stolen from wal-mart ... and looters are suppose to be shot on sight during any hurricane... thats just standard practice, however, you never hear about that happening because no cop in his right mind is going to be patrolling a city during a hurricane .... and I am pretty sure if you lost everything you owned.. and you saw a free way to get some stuff back.. you'd take the opportunity.

......OK, now I wanna hear from the grasseaters on the board who bleat that there is no earthly reason for private citizens to own firearms.
Is there another way for small business owners and homeowners who are in danger of being looted/robbed to defend that which they worked for and those they love??
During the famous L.A./Rodney King riots, the only small business owners who were not looted were the Koreans, who sat on the rooftops of their stores with high-powered rifles. Looks like they understand the importance of the second amendment!

We'll last year when we were hit with three storms back to back people went crazy. We didnt have no where near the damage they have over in LA right now and we had people fighting over ice, gas, water and everything else. We were without power for days at a time and you should have seen how crazy it made people. People stealing generators became and big problem and we chained ours to a rail on the back pourch. Another thing that was getting ripped off a bunch was plywood people would just go out and tear it off someone else's house. Situations like that really bring out the every man for himself mentality.

haha, I noticed that too, but then again it might just be the media, they seem to like to depict certain people.
