Griz is an interesting hip-hop meets hard rock album adventure. Griz has one of those gravely voices that helped Everlast get to where he got. He eschews patriotic fist-shaking but without sounding like a neophyte on “American Freedom”—a song just totally supporting our troops without going on about how the war is the right thing to do. So that was refreshing. Hey man he thanks Suzanna Paradise who our fellow Smother.Net writer Jeremy used to have a massive crush on, so that’s pretty cool. Plus he covers “Born to Be Wild” and if that’s not rad than I don’t know what is. Overall the production is killer and the guitar work is a big smack upside the cranium. Good ****ing album. - J-Sin
