Holy crap! Multi-million armored car heist

    Holy crap bros!

Some dudes pulled off a multi-million $$$ armored car heist yesterday about 15 minutes down the highway from where I live!

According to the TV news I saw this afternoon, it's probably an armored car that was transfering huge amounts of money from the Royal Mint in Ottawa to the Montreal Bank of Canada repository.

They say the heist was extremely well planned and executed and the Security Guards who were in te truck were not seriously hurt.

RK for us poor ignorant types that can't read French, what happened? I used to ride shotgun in a truck in another lifetime and am kind of curious how they pulled it off. Thanks!

Gymnutt I'll run what little I can find thru a translator...

Surprisingly, there is almost nothing in the medias about this... and the cops are VERY tight lipped.

Attack against a truck of Securicor
    Robbers at large

In Montreal, the police force always tries to find the authors of an attack perpetrated against an armoured truck of the Securicor firm.

The vehicle transported probably several million dollars. The Sureté du Quebec refuses to specify the amount for strategic reasonst.

After having bound the two guards, the robbers extirpated the boxes of the vehicle, broke them, and ran away themselves with the spoils.

The flight occurred in Rigaud, in edge of motorway 40. One of the guards was slightly wounded with the head at the time of the attack.

The two men succeeded in giving alarm at the end of 45 minutes, but the robbers were already far.

    The Sécuricor Press release: http://www.newswire.ca/en/releases/a.../07/c7050.html

Securicor update on September 7th, 2005 Armored Car Robbery in Rigaud, Quebec

TORONTO, Sept. 7 /CNW/ - This morning a Securicor armored car was robbed
in the vicinity of Rigaud, Quebec.
None of the Securicor personnel on the truck were harmed.
The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) has launched an investigation into the
incident. The company will be cooperating with the SQ and providing whatever
    support and assistance it can.
As this is an on-going police investigation the company, as a matter of
policy, will not be making any further statement or providing any additional
    comment at this time.
Any and all inquiries about the investigation should be directed to the
    SQ.

    Another press release: http://www.cnw.ca/fr/releases/archiv.../08/c7661.html

Securicor update of September 7 robbery in Rigaud, Quebec

TORONTO, Sept. 8 /CNW/ - Securicor's first priority is and always has
been the safety and security of its employees. Its policies and procedures are
developed to ensure that not only employees but also the general public are
not exposed to any increased risk to their safety.
Following preliminary investigation, Securicor has been able to confirm
that standard and well-defined procedures were not followed by the individual
crewmembers involved and this directly resulted in yesterday's robbery. As of
yet, we have no clear understanding as to why this occurred, and an internal
    investigation is continuing.
As the criminal investigation is ongoing, any and all inquiries
surrounding the details of the event should be directed to the Sûreté du
    Québec.

Thanks RK! Babelfish worked like a charm, I'll have to remember that. From what I know very few trucks are hit without inside information or help. Luckily nobody was killed. If I had to guess, it won't be long before that money starts to burn a hole in someones pocket. While the money is most likely insured, I would hazard to guess a nice percentage has been offered for reclamation if the cops can't find it first.

Holy crap... today Securicor has offered a 1 million dollar reward for info on this theft...

I'm guessing there was a little more than just 10 mils in that truck!
