I Hate Hurricanes!!!
Another stupid farking hurricane is a heading towards South Florida and im pissed. Everybody is acting nuts, theres traffic everywhere, and I cant even get gas because theres so many people waiting!
Everybody seems to be overreacting because of what happened w/ Katrina, but this one is barely a Cat. 1, i think. I guess i gotta workout at home today.
Anyways good luck to anyone in South Florida, and if your in the Keys right now well, GET OUT!!

as long as I lived in miami...Ive never seen the list of storms reach this far into the alphabet...
luckily I just put gas in the car on saturday...but my wife is stuck in a checkout line an hour long...as we do all our grocery shopping on mondays..
preparing for these storms are becoming 2nd nature to us floridians....
Their is still a certain apprehensiveness that you just cannot get used to...

I feel bad for Texas. The damn thing might turn North and hit New Orleans AGAIN! I'm barely getting rain in Broward right now, but I closed my office b/c the schools closed.
Mass, I hear ya bro, I grew up here and don't remember pandemonium like this. There's definitely more storms now than in the 80's, but if you look back, it was like this in the 60's too, so I don't think it's a Day After Tomorrow thing happening.

all the computer models so far have Rita heading further south towards Corpus Christi, but things can still change and even if it hits Corpus, H-town will still lots of rain and wind. Good thing Im leaving town this weekend!

theyre are closing my office starting tomorrow. I just got the following message from a guy I work with
Those of us who live outside of the storm surge area are concerned with wind speeds, with 100 MPH winds capable of taking the roof off of a house.
NOAA has an *experimental* wind speed product which at this time only forecasts a 15% chance of there being hurricane force winds on the ground (or less) in Houston.
So, what is the chance of 100 MPH winds? 10% ? 5% ? Less than 15%, at any rate.
See http://www.nhc.noaa.gov

Everyone just keeps walking around my town asking each other if we should leave...told we should know by this evening if we need to get out...right now they say as long as it doesn't shift we'll get about 60 mph winds...but we'll be on the east side of it so it needs to hit low enough so we don't end up getting the worst of it instead...I just bought new furniture...ugggghh
