    Talking I'm Moving To AMERICA!!!

Ok guy's after years of thinking about it, i'm finally serious

    I'm moving to America

Only problem is i don't know all the rules and regulations

Do i have to become an American citizen to live there permanently?

How do i become a citizen?

    WTF is a "green-card?"

Can i just move to America, and get a job? Or do i have to have a job before moving?

Can i even have a job or would i be taking someone elses work?

Would i have to set up my own business?

I don't know where to start!

I want to be in America

Groovy, I'm an american that wants to move to Holland.

    All the same questions...

Seriously though, I've been finding some good information on ex-pat sites online. Just start doing Google searches for things like "american work" and "american immigration". Odds are, there are sites that cater to ex-pats from your country in america.

Of course you will, but that's the nature of taking a job. You take it, no one else can have it.

Dammit, you want to be an american! You have to learn to not give a shit about the competition!

I'm going down there myself brotha.... I'm from Canada, and in order for me to work in America, I need a working Visa... my company is sponsoring me as a worker... I know there are ways of obtaining a TN VIsa (there are a whole bunch), but, like Jerzey mentioned, you should read Immigration Law before "sellin' the house"... keep us posted on your steps to make it there, it'll be quite interesting! Best of luck!

I don't know a lot...but, personally I looked into this for myself sometime ago...and I have one relative who works in Texas...who of course got the job by his company sponsoring him...his wife though..couldn't work.
Than, I have a friend working in Vegas...luckily he married an American...for her to sponsor him. I believe the red tape is VERY sticky. If you don't have a job waiting for you, or a relative to "sponsor"...it's very difficult. My cousin in Texas didn't even get a Green card for about 3 years.
And, as far as I know...there are "Green" card call outs...where the US gives out so many per year...but, only to specific countries...Canada has not been on that list for a VERY long time.

Perhaps find someone you know who has gone down to work...and ask them! Good Luck...and, I'll be one of the few who would be sad to see you leave.

damn i know nothing about immagration laws..but you need to contact an imagration office when you get here to apply for citizenship, thats for sure..it all depend what country your comming from, some places are harder then others when it comes to becoming a citizen. Its harder for mexicans to become citizens then europeans..

my bro married an american girl ....

took him 9 months of paper work and interviews to get his visa and now that he is now married he still has a shed load of papers to do (another 6 months to become a conditional resident)

im not sure about the working visa' tho but either way it is pretty time consuming becoming a permenant resident, if you do it legally

It's easier to marry an American

It's a long process to come into the USA legally (especially long term). usually expensive too...

I work for a IT company that sponsored several visas so I can tell you the process in brief.

1- You have to find a permanent job in an American company and the company should be allowed to sponsor your work visa (H1B visa). There are some other restrictions too. For example, your annual salary must be above $45K, and you should file for your work visa before October otherwise you have to wait till the next year because H1B’s get issued only during the first two weeks of October.

2- After you get your H1B, you can work for that company legally and the company can sponsor your green card and you'll get the green card in three to five years based on your position and how important it is to the country.

3- After you get your green card, you'll be a permanent resident for about three to five years then you'll get the citizenship. Again, the time frame you'll need depends on how important is your position to the country.

    - Non of your "American" relatives can sponsor you if you are above 21 y.o. If you are below 21, your parents can sponsor you if at least one of them is American.

    - Getting green card through marriage is not as easy as you imagine, I personally know many people who got married to American women and they didn't get green cards. It is long and complicated process. Also, if you get green card and then get divorced, then your chances of getting citizenship are almost zero.

    - Being English or a citizen of any specific country will not really affect (positively or negatively) in getting green card.

Mustaches?? lmao, that's pretty gross, not sure what kind of women you have met from Jersey..

All you need is a good immigation lawyer... I took immigation law when I was getting certified through the ABA (I'm a paralegal) and where there is a will (and enough money) there seems to always be a way.... It's an expensive process but if you are serious, I'm sure it's worth it.

I was joking about marriage.... I honestly don't know how anyone could marry someone just to get into the U.S. , but I guess it could be bad enough other places that it's a way out (not saying that's your reason)...
