    1015lb Bench Press Attempt

    http://media.putfile.com/BenchPress25

Rychlak missed it but I bet he craped himself when the bar rolled on him.

???? That was 1015 lbs. You guys are acting like he was doing something easy... If your setting the world record for bench press your not going to look like a body builder. I dont think anything is retarded about it. You guys are being dicks about it.

Most benchers on his level could do what he did in that video. He didn't finish it, but i'll give him credit for trying. All I can say is GOD DAMN that must have hurt.

take the bench shirt off and its closer to a 700 lb bench. larry allen from the cowboys did a 700 bench with no bench shirt.

He was going to be the first man to bench over 1000lbs....which means no one else has ever done that

With or without a bench shirt that's still a lot of weight. Yeah a bench shirt will make a difference, but not 300# bro. I would venture to say that he could get 700# without a bench shirt too. Either way, he's got the world record already and I don't see anyone else attempting it yet.

But as far as being fat, have you ever watched World's Strongest Man? With the exception of one, they aren't built like bodybuilders either. They're not all fat, but they're still big men. And fat or not, there's still gotta be muscle there because the last time I checked fat won't help you bench/squat/dead lift anymore

But put a bench shirt on that allen character and he wont bench press 1015ibs so obviously Rychlak is stronger

No, Gene Rychlak Jr.'s world record is 965. Nobody has benched over 1000 pounds yet. Scot Mendelson used to have the record last year at 875. Both have tried 1000+ but never has done it yet. Menelson tried 1003 twice at a competition in Iowa a couple of months ago and couldn't get it off his chest either.

The world record for a bench without a bench shirt is 713. Maybe someone should tell Larry Allen so he can break the world record in addition to playing football

there was a guy at the gym where i work out that was a competative bench presser. he had to put 275 lbs on the bar just so it would touch his chest. and johan how do u know that allen character wont get close to 1000 with a shirt on? i simply brought up allen because they showed a video of him on our local news actually pressing the 700. my point is why the shirt? if they take them away guys would make a huge deal out of an 800lb bench.

Sorry, you're right. I forgot that he broke it last Novemeber. It is 1005.

The bench shirt does allow you to get more weight, there's no doubt about that, but attempting 800+ pounds without it is near impossible just based on the stress your pecs, delts are getting. I mean there won't be a person that says it doesn't help out, but it's also used for safety and technique as well as improving your numbers.

I personally would rather own the 713 record without a shirt than 1005 with a shirt. The only reason I got into this thread was because of the negativity showed, he didn't get it up, that's fine, but still no need to disrepect someone because they didn't achieve something that no one else has done

It seemed like more of a technique problem. He didn't even get a chance to push the weight. I wonder if that would have just snapped my arm like a twig.
