what exactly are the rules for these types of fights? MMA stated that there were rules against Gannon using most of his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques - are there many other rules that say you cant use certain techniques of fighting?

the only breaks you get are noses, cheek bones, and eye sockets. and some teeth too.

being that it was a 'staged' fight and they were just holding on to each other after about 6 mins i think they should of had some time to regroup and catch their breath. i know damn well thats not the way its supposed to be but this fight was for entertainment/$$$ purposes and neither of them could fight after a while. thats my only point. perhaps i have to watch it again as it got boring after a while - turned into a waltz contest. not that id like to scrap with either of those nuts.

u do know that there is a break after 3 mins of each boxing round right?

i'm sorry, i misunderstood. i always get so amped when i see that fight. for those of you new to the board, i train with gannon, and i was AT the Gannon/Kimbo fight, so you'll have to forgive me if i get over-excited.

you are 100% correct that it would have been more entertaining with rounds, but we negotiated the rules with kimbos crew, and we thought no rounds would favor Gannon because he is usually in better shape. however, gannon then bady sprained his ankle (couldn't run) AND tore his labrum (couldn't box), so he didn't have the big conditioning edge we expected. he looked like hell, but he won that fight on pure heart.

the rules were that you cant headbutt, kick, use any martial arts holds, etc...boxing, and you can wrestle around a little bit

the rules were actually negotiated with Iceberg (kimbos manager). we wanted a pure no rules fight, but he was afraid of Gannon's wrestling and jiu jitsu, so he asked for no groundfighting. he didn't realize there were standing chokes and submissions - the guillotine was completely legal. so were the knees - he asked for "no kicks", but in the rules we defined kicks as "striking with any part of shin or foot" and he signed off on them.

New York has a pretty good Underground scene too, and you can often just negotiate the rules you want to fight by with your opponent , as long as they are agreeable.

people always come up with this for some reason. we posted the rules on Sherdog, AND the Underground Forum, and everybody still comes up with this interpretation for some reason.

true. it was sad, kimbo is tough as hell, he fought his heart out and deserved better. if his management had negotiated better rules, the outcome might have been different, but instead, they put it on him.

it reminds me of the tyson/douglas fight, when tyson had his cronies in the corner instead of real cornermen, and they didn't even have an Endswell for his eye.

also for the record - the only reason it took Gannon that long to take out kimbo is because they had rules against Gannon using most of his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques. he beat kimbo by his own rules - tough to do.

besides that guy that sprayed him with mace in his eyes and then beat him up LOL.......weird how kimbo himself considers it a legit loss

Icey Porn is South Beach Records....they're both owned by his manager Iceberg (the white guy at the end of the first video "he didn't even want to see my guy!"). he is the top enforcer and bodyguard for that organization.

Iceberg and The Milfhunter are pretty tight then. They're both around the south Florida area. They own a bunch of porn sites. Fukin lucky bastard!

When I watch Kimbo fight, I can never tell if his face is messed up because of all that hair he has on his face. Man is pretty tough though.

kimbo is also tight with MilfHunter, they have video of Milfhunter and kimbo training together athe the beginning of one of mifhunters scenes.

the joke was "if you want to be in fight shape, do your training camp with a good pro, not Miflhunter"

gannon definitely had more facial damage, kimbo went for the head, while gannon used a concentrated body attack to take his strength and wind - the winning strategy. for those that don't know fighting, 90% of gannon's body shots were perfectly placed, bottom of floating ribs, right side, slight upward angle (the shot mickey ward dropped gatti with). it's called the "liver punch" and it hurts twice as bad as being hit in the nuts full force.

it wasn't just a matter of kimbo being out of shape and "gassing out". most of gannons opponents, well conditioned professional fighters, fold within a few minutes of this kind of attack. i was amazed he took it as long as he did.
