    Motorcycle Estimate...

Okay, so I bought a bike finally, but would like to know what you guys think it's worth before I say how much I spent on it

    1992 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6E
    47,000KM
    3 owners

Engine performance (7 out of 10)
Physical appearance (5 out of 10)

How much would you think this bike is worth?

    Thanks,
    T.

It's got over a hundred thousand miles on it, and he gives it a 5 out of 10 on appearance. I was an assistant used car sales manager for a couple years, and I used to have to call and get buy figures from motorcycle dealers on trdes all the time.

uhhh.... no.... i has about 31-32000 miles on it.

You find a zx6e for that price(700-1000) in running condition, you snatch it up and sell it for double, easily...

IMO, streetfighter it and go wild.

That's the most valuable 92 Ninja, and you can't put in the miles.

Oh, woops! I was backward on the miles, duh. It's still not worth 2k.

Depends on the condition of the bike. It has to be up to date with its service. The bike is going on 14 years old. If I felt confident that it was taken care of and had a nice moist chain, clean sprockets, straight frame with certification, sealed forks, fresh tires and other regular maintenance papers, I would pay 1500 max. Especially if the cosmetics are beat and has visable crash damage. probably less though. If the bike looks trashed, and not just the plastics, I wouldn't let them give me the bike. you could spend 2,000 easily just getting it back on the road again.

Did I hear a RC for sale? I'm looking for one.

If that rc needs a nice sunny winter home, don't hesitate to ship it to me in california. I'll take good care of it

Well I guess bad post on my part, couple things I should mention.

    1. I'm up in Canada, meaning the bike only runs for about 4-6 months during the spring/summer/fall, and they are all fair weather riders.

    2. The bike was sold certified, with papers and history check, no accidents (at least nothing more serious than minor dumps).

    3. The only thing wrong with appearance really (maybe I shouldn't have given it a 5 out of 10) is a slight break in the right fearing. Scratches along the side, all minor, not highly visible, gas cover little hard to turn with key, but really OVERALL looks quite clean. Maybe more like a 7 out of 10 on appearance.

    4. It is Canada, so it's Canadian dollars.

Well I'll just come out and say it, LOL, it was advertised for $2600, I bought it for $2100 which = $1766 U.S. dollars.

I'm about to post a picture...

What do you plan using the bike for?

    4-6 months a year?
    hard times

Thats the real luxory of living in California. I can ride year 'round. I would go crazy if I had to sit in traffic for six months in my car waiting for summer again so I could lane split.

Well it is my first bike. I expect to keep it for maybe 2 summers, and then turn around and sell it, and maybe get something a little nicer looking, different brand/style maybe.

It's, I guess my "learning/practice" bike. And yeah, it can get shitty with traffic and all, so I mean, I'll be riding it couple times a week in the hot weather, I'm puretly fair weather/fair traffic rider, hahaha, sorta chicken too

    Congrats on your first bike!!!!

Good decision on getting a cheaper used bike to start with. A lot of kids buy brand new r6's and wreck them by the end of the week. It sucks for them, but good for me because I can buy their used parts on E-bay.

My advise to a new rider. WEAR YOUR SAFETY GEAR. On real rides we wear full leathers. But just around town, MINIMUM, I don't leave the house without a good pair of riding boots, leather gloves, solid leather jacket, (don't go with that textile shit or ICON garbage) and of coarse a good helmet. Expect to have a few get offs.

Riding without gear is like going on a steroid cycle without anti-E's. Nothing may happen, but if it does, you're PHUCKED.

    Believe me bro, shit happens.

    Ride safe.

Thanks a lot man, yeah, safety for sure, I'm a bit paranoid too, so always do my best to be "safe" and "prepared."

Can't wait till summer of next year, maaaaaaan that's a long time away, hahaha. At least it's something real nice to look forward to.

    Take care,
    T.

$1766 US, I think you didn't take it too hard, I personally wouldn't pay over 1300-1400 for such a bike, but being in the business I am in I have good access to things like that at wholesale prices.

The cosmetics dont look bad at all. Maybe thats the good side though

Cool bike to start out with. Like anything else, do some research on how to handle the bike. There are a few good books out there that can give you the basics on riding techniques. They really do go a long way in learning proper position and how to handle corners.
    Ride safe!
