tough one?POLL:pick 5 athletes that combined would create the perfect athlete

    mine would be:

1.) Mike Tyson(in his 20's): psychologically intimidating to his opponents

2.)Tony Gwynn: true student of his game and will be an excellent teacher at San Diego State University next year.

3.)Lance Armstrong:heart and perserevance to over come testicular cancer and win the tour de france

4.)Micheal Jordan: excellent business man and worldwide marketability

5.)Roger Clemens: post season approach to conditioning

just my thoughts.there are alot of options and i just thougth it migth spark so new discussion

Bo Jackson, Wayne Gretzky, Micheal Jordan, Muhamed Ali, **Terry Fox

** Terry Fox lost his right leg to cancer when he was 17. In 1981 when he was 19 he began the "Marathon of Hope". On a prosthetic leg he attempted to run across Canada in hopes of raising money for Cancer research. Though his stump was bloodied and blistered he ran 15-20 miles everyday. Just before the halfway point he was forced to stop because of chest pains. After a medical examination it was discovered that the cancer had spread to his lungs. He was flown home to under go chimotherapy but sadly he died several months later. Every September Millions of Canadians participate in the "Terry Fox Fun Run" and all proceeds (pledges) go to Cancer research. I chose Terry over Lance Armstrong because, even though their stories of sheer will and determination in facing this horrible disease are similar, Terry Fox is a hero to all Canadians (I know Lance is a hero to people world wide) and I wanted to bring his story to the board.

Yeah...PBNYC there was a low budget made for TV movie in the late 80's. It's a great human interest story. He was a very brave kid...it was so sad when he passed because he had become a cultural icon so we had up to the minute reports of his progress and eventual death.

    Lance Armstrong
    Michael Jordon
    Gipper
    Joe D'Maggio

    1. Muhamed Ali- Size and speed with a mouth to boot

    2. Dick Butkus- Controlled and intense anger and intimidation

    3. Michael Jordan- An intelligent atheletes athelete who hates to lose. And a proven winner.

    4. Cal Ripken - Day in day out 100% consistant, and durable.

    5. Kurt Angle- Conditioning, intelligence, and the imense size of his testicles. The man won a gold medal in freestyle wrestling in the Olympic games with a broken neck he had for over a month. Well maybe he isn't that smart. Only American to ever win a gold medal in this event in the Olympics...Nuff said. I just wish he didn't wrestle pro now. I am not a fan of pro wrestling.

Great post Pete!!! I can definitely say that I am inspired by what Terry Fox did. He was (and still is) a true Canadian hero.

Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, THAT IS STRENGTH

Deion sanders - if not limited by injury, could have been one of the greatest football players ever. Speed, reflexes, attitude. he was basically just gifted, both genetically and talent wise. He lacked discipline though.

    Andre agasi- one word: tenacity

Lance armstrong - work ethic, badassedness

That's all you need. A physical gift, the work ethic to cultivate it, and the competitive drive to follow through.

    Scott Steiner-Dude is fuckin huge.
Muhammad Ali-Strength and speed like no other.

I dunno if this counts , but my Grand Master Craig Kollars( 9th degree black belt in TKD.) Strenght, speed, and precision.

Dan Guebel- Worlds greatest wrestler, lost only one match.

Lou Ferrigno- Okay, he was SLIGHTLY bigger then arnold for awhile and never took juice like arnold (not that its a bad thing!).
