There's been many times where I briefly closed my eyes, but the thought of crashing my car is enough to keep me awake even under the most sleepiest conditions.

I smack my face if I'm falling asleep or pull over at a rest stop or side of the road and take a cat nap. Energy drinks, coffee, ephedrine also help.

Pull off to the side of the road and sleep man. My brother fell asleep at the whell one time on the highway, went down into the grass and almost into oncoming traffic if he didnt hit a mileage sign thing. Just dont know what I would do if he had gone into oncoming traffic and lost his life. Man it is never worth it, I dont care if you are late for a job interview or anything. Pull off to the side of the road until you are ready to drive. Please dont risk it man.

Exactly, nothing is ever more important then your life. Pull over for 10 minutes, it will make the difference.

The last 3 times I have driven home from school (takes 4 hours) at night I have nodded off at least 10 times during the trip. Most of the time, theyre during straightaways but one was during a left turn. I was in the left lane and my car came all the way to the far right lane (3 lanes)..barely missed the wall. Needless to say I was scared to death and stayed awake the whole time. Luckily, there weren't cars in my path..but the ones behind me gave me the weirdest looks as they passed.
What I try now is listening to music really loud and singing along all intensely Sounds/looks dumb but it helps me. I'll also put the window down

when i am tired enough to fall asleep at the wheel, if i don't stop there is nothing i can do to stay awake.
only thing that works is to stop and get coffee

Change your habits so that you are not so tired when driving.

A few years back I was working 8am-5pm days mon-fri and 8pm-2am nights tues, wed, fri, sat, I was an accident waiting to happen, I would frequently nod off a bit at the wheel so I started popping ephedrine, listening to loud music, having the window down but if your body needs sleep it will overcome and one day mine did. I suddenly woke up bouncing along the verge, hit a sign and stopped, luckily I wasn't going very fast and luckily I went off the road to the left (I'm in the UK remember) or it could have been alot worse. The thought of it happening again, only drifting into oncoming traffic was enough of a wake up call for me - its one thing risking your own life but imagine if you took out a family and survived, it doesn't bear thinking about.

I fell asleep on the Long Island Expressway at 4am going 90 mph. I woke up just in time to hit another car, lose total control and spin my car 720 degrees and regain control right before I almost hit the divider. Bouncer saw my car and the damage I got from it.

I fell asleep acouple of times driving home from a party. Thank goodness that those noise things on the side of the road are there, otherwise I would have been in the ditch quite afew times.

I was sober, just really tired. Haven't been to a party in three years, so haven't had that problem since.

Get out of the car and take a walk, just pull off the highway because you don't want anyone who is asleep at the wheel to hit you. WTF are you guys thinking? Pull your ass off and take a nap! Somebody is gonna end up dead.

i used to work in the oilfields in northern alberta and i would work crazy long days and into some nights, so i tried everything, and to be honest the jerkin off thing works the best, just keep playin with it till you get close then stop for a bit, and just keep repeating that method.

I have fallen asleep a few times, and woken up and gone like 10 miles and had no idea how cause i was asleep for it.

I pulled over one time into a rest stop to sleep for a few and after i fell asleep like ten minutes later a huge transport truck went by and blew his airbrake horn as he went by me, i literally SH!T my pants on the spot caus ei thought i was still driving when he went by. i couldnt sleep for the rest of the drive and most of the next night i was still scared.
