If i were to guess, I'd say, at a gym around, $12-15/hr.. and freelance anywhere from 25-$50 an hour depending on how acredited you are and whatnot..

For Wisconsin, where I'm from, those numbers are accurate.

Sometimes, life can be difficult if you are trying to make a living as a personal trainer. There will be good times, during the year, and slow times. You will need to be good at budgeting your money for the slow times.

Getting into a clinic, where you have guaranteed hours, will probably give you the most financial security.

Nah bro her in Austin you can get 15-25 per session working for a gym and freelancing you can charge your own rates, around here its about 40-60 per session, the bigger the city the more money plus it helps if you live in a hott city like, Austin, any part of California, Miami, Tampa, and many more cities in FL, NY

bally's paid $10 and hour for level 1 (which is pretty much "im working on getting certified) and up to $40 for level 4. I agree that you have to budget your money. Summer was the slowest...around this time is when you can make bank.

I dont know where you guys r getting those numbers, but ballys pays you 24 an hour(you dont even have to be certified) for hours your training people, and 6.50 when your there trying to get clients n helping out around the gym. This is the starting rate i will be getting when i start at ballys, i had no prior experience in the field. You have 4 months to get certified, then i will be getting 30 an hour, and 7 an hour when not training. this is all in the first few months, so the money making ability is there. This is in the tri state area, so everythign is inflatted, but cost of living is also ALOT so it all evens out prob. also waht is the best cert to get for PT?

The only way to do it is to put your time in. Find a good gym to work at for a couple of years. make contacts build up your client list and hone your craft. being a trainer people want to hire is 50% about what you know and 50% about your personality. if you have no personality you will never make any money at it. be a PE teacher instead.

In the long run, you will make more at a private studio or doing home training (at the client's home). I made $50 per hour, in Wisconsin, doing home visits.

Well, I HOPEFULL pass the test on Feb 11th, then since I'll still be living at school, Bally's is only about, 100 yards from my dorm so I'm gonna hopefully work there. But who knows, this stuff is really hard I may have to postpone the test untill May so I dont know, I'll least have it for summer which is the overall goal

im can fit pro certified. this is a canadian company.then i found out that pt's dont make enough cash for me and i was vexed.and u have to work floor hours for free,, thats b.s. its a good job if uve won a few bb contests and have a name for urself then theyll pay u good or if u know the owner of the gym. u only get paid for when ur actually training somebody.
