Well the 1990's Dodge Daytonas were not fast by my standards. How much $ are you looking to spend?

not much. i mean, im just looking to make an upgrade from the ford ranger pickup i have right now that barely goes 80. how much horsepower would you say one of the faster cars from around 1990 would have?.

A 90's era Mustang GT would have better than 200hp. A Buick Grand National from that same time period would be a nice choice as well, if you could find one with low miles that would be one of my top picks. I drive an old Corvette, but one of those may cost a little more than you want to spend.

90's? Girlfriend, try 60's and 70's. Try to find maybe a vintage Charger or Stang or Vette. Pontiac GTO. The possibilities boggle the mind. My only vehicle is a 63 nova with a 350 V8 from a vette in her and she runs like a striped-ass ape. Easy to work on... no computers required ha ha! Tune her up by ear. I know a guy with, believe it or not, a 66 Ford Falcon who can run with me for a pretty good piece. Those old cars have a lot of possibilities for modding. A lot of them, a really rad engine change was just basically a drop-in thing, with all the bolt holes the same, as in the case of Nellie, my Nova. (I did have to get a low profile water pump, and put in a bigger radiator, but that's about it.) I'm not selling 90'scars short, but the old cars are easier to mod up.
Love
Anna

If I were going with a car from the 90's I would go with a 5.0 Mustang.

Mustang Cobra, Camaro Iroc, Supra or RX-7 TT, Shelby Daytonas are pretty quick too, but their not as fast. Buick Grand National would be my choice. You could also pick up a 80s Vette for a good price.
What price range are you looking at?

yah we need a price range here.
you can never go wrong with american muscle, but japan put out some nice turbo cars those years.
for real cheap if you dont mind 4 cylinders, you can get Eclipse GS-T or GSX and just hook it up a little bit.
or a Honda Prelude with the H22 motor in it and just put a few hundread bucks into it, and it will run 13's

A Delorian would be awesome. But for cheap & fast, a 5.0L mustang would be your best best. There is TONS of aftermarket parts for them, and it's all cheaply priced too. Not that great handling though. A supra, or rx7 would handle way better. Maybe a Datsun 300zx (before it became nissan, they are nice cars)
You won't go wrong with american muscle, but for something different an import could do very well too.
