What Personal Business To Open??

Hey bro's!!
As luck would have it my best friend just came into a very very large lump sum of money. We have been thinking of opening our own business for quite some time now. He has a degree in Business Management. I am 2 semesters away from a Marketing Degree. Together with another investor/friend we have a good amount of money and not only that we have the means and we have the connections (my family owns their own business, girlfriends best friends owns his own business plus his father owns 3 businesses) So we are trying to brain storm some ideas. Now we know that it will take along time to even get the ball rolling and we are not worried. I would like to hear some ideas from you guys. Knowing that a handful of ppl here own their own business (Swolecat) Of course the first thing out of my Friends mouth was a club or bar. But its such a pain to get a liquor license in PA, and COSTLY!!! Then my girl said a restaurant because Im a chef and have been to school for said profession. But I would love to get out of the restaurant business not get into it. lol Both my friend and I know our fair share about computers. I mean we both have traveled the world (navy brats) We just would like to brainstorm and research for months and see what our options are. Anyone have any experience or ideas I'm all ears. If money isn't an issue, open up a NICE bar/club or gym.

I always thought it would be cool to own your club, bar or gym.

When I mean a nice bar, i'm talking about throw some money into the place and be creative.

There's this bar in Miami in which I would base my idea off of. Mr Moe's in coconut grove. If you ever get a chance to see it, you'll understand why the man made back his money in less than a year and he's living large. Cars, women and lots of free time to do whatever he wants.

And his career before this, he was in the arena football league.

You should do whatever you could see yourself doing for the next 30 years and while staying happy. Invest the money in a short term fund until you make up your mind.

Bar/Club is a pretty good idea if that is you have the money!!!

do whatever is your inspiration... something you will devote every waking minute too with pure enjoyment. Make sure you cover all angles and know your product/service better than anyone that questions you. Be the smartest owner and you will be successful at whatever you do.

yeah man, whatever interests you, me personally, i want to open my own gym, thats my dream. but i would want the gym to also have a supplement store and a section for tanning and massages. so thats what I would do, but thats not you of course

You want me to tell you really what you should do??

Open a non-profit org...

with the marketing and business knowledge you have it should be a snap..

save your own money, and spend other peoples..

that's right.. if you are into marketing.. raising money is the most lucrative business there ever was..

and you get to help people..

don't forget in the bylaws to make sure you each have a seat on the board, life time..

plus you have to work your ass off-I have been in and out of several business over the years, mostly as an investor/silent partner. Hands down the most lucrative were simple things like coin operated car washes and laundramats. I recently partnered with a guy who runs coffee shops/internet cafes-so far it has been going well. Good luck with whatever you choose.

may have to look into that. havent really learned anything about Non-profit orgs. yet in school. ill hit up my friend and see what he thinks. also we have to think of an org. that we would feel is worthy and that we could both feel is worth while not just for us of course but for who we are helping. hmm not to shabby spywizard.

oh i know all about the restaurant business. i hate it lol okay dislike it. i have been a chef for two years and been workin in restaurants for twice as many years. so there is no way i would like to do that. My friend is interested in real estate. he already owns a large house that he has converted into apartments in York PA. Lookin to buy more houses. fix up and either sell again or keep as apartments. Another friend of mine owns a phone company well not a phone company but they handle the deals and contracts for huge corporations and city contracts for cell phones for all the cell phone carriers and he just got into that and is killin it in the money department. plus he had no previous experience. just his dad had some money and he used it. well i guess ill keep lookin and learnin and will write down the ideas.

i may have to move to mexico and open a lab. that would be a dream come true. except the legal problems that that would cause. so who wants to work for me... hahaha instead of paychecks you get the amount of vials worth the amount you would be payed.
